My computer freezes and then it reboots whenever I open an application.What do I do?

get a new computer. my family upgraded on all electronics.

You may not be allocating enough virtual memory.

1. Right-click My Computer and select Properties (or hold down the Alt key and double-click "My Computer")

2. Click the Advanced tab then under Performance, click "Settings".

3. There will be another Advanced tab to select in the "Performance Options" window. Down where it says "Virtual Memory" click Change.

4. Finally, we get to the screen we're looking for.

You will see a window with available drives where you can select the drive you want (if you have more than one). Notice that it also shows how much space you have available on that drive. You can specify a Custom size, or let the system manage the size for you. After you've made your selection, click Set and OK.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.

I would take it in or reboot, it might be a virus that infect your computer, I know it happen to my nephew computer, I went reinstall his computer and he have no virus, I bring it to the computer shop and check it out first

Lots of possibilities. Does it do that for all applications, or just one? Your disk could be corrupt, or your power supply may be dying, or you could have a more serious problem. I would recommend consulting a repairman, but I am admittedly biased.

The reason it freezes is 2 possibilites 1) you may not have enough memory. or 2) You may need to clean out your Processor Fan it may need blowed out that could clog the air to the processor. for more support go to http://support.mtechama.com/forum/

Its a virus alright Im guessing. I had the same problem. Probably BRONTOK. It hides. Now go to task manager by clickin ctrl+alt+delete at the same time. click "l" to go to "lsass.exe" if its the coreect one it will be appx "00" under the heading "CPU" and if itsa virus it will be with a capital "i" which looks like an "L" as in "Isass.exe". See there is no difference in the two. It will also be usoing alot of the cpu like "34" + or maybe "99" straight!! Check this out. In a normally performing system..the "System idle process" ha "99" under the "CPU" heading.

safe mode chkdsk in DOS then do a virus scan after re-boot.
