[1] I already suffered severe brain damage working with my former company's CMS that was a total train wreck, a churn to use, an utterly complete waste of working hours, a total waste of money, a silo and generally an insult to any carbon-based life form with at least one vertebrae.
[2] LAMP setup preferred, mid-sized project.

Joomla IMHO is the best.

Lately I've been loving SilverStripe. I think it's really far beyond the Drupals and Zope's of yesteryear.

It's MVC, XHTML compliant, and all the best buzzwords. Including being open-source.
It's PHP, and even has an installer that includes PHP and MySQL for windows. Otherwise it's a fairly easy install for *nix as well. It's worth kicking the tires on, especially if you're running it on windows and can use the auto-installer.
