Off lease car warranties and service plans?
From Budget Car Sales, off rent 06 Chevy Malibu 26k miles, $1600 warranty to 50k (from mfg 36k) and $600 for 7 oilchanges, 3 tire rotations,1 or 2 coolant flushes and a trans service, again to 50k (both "4 yrs or"...would never reach that.) Any experience? Good deal/bad deal? Ripoff?

Not a great deal in my book.... The manufacture is going to cover you for 10,000 miles so they will only be giving you 14,000 miles of coverage... the average mileage driven per year is a little over 12,000 so you will be out of warranty before the 4 years is up... service plan doesn't sound like a deal either...I would check around...most financial institutions offer extended warranty packages...go for the best deal...

I have found that the best extended warranties for your GM car are the ones available from GM. THe GMPP has many options.
Just go on line and get a price from a GM dealer.
Prepaid oil changes and and tire rotations are a ripoff. Most national discount chains (Town fair Tire in the Northeast) will do rotations and snow tire change overs for free.
Quelle(n): Ripped off by aftermarket non-gm warranty. Too many loopholes if you have a major engine or trans failure. - ?Lv 7vor 1 Jahrzehnt
Depends on what type of warranty - if its just a powertrain warranty then its not such a good deal. As long as you do the required maintenance that powertrain should last 100,000 miles before it needs anything. The factory interval for changing coolant and trans fluid is 100,000 miles. Too much $$$ for both programs. These programs are designed as profit centers for the dealers. Rip off!

any warranty or maintanance plan you can get is worth it. Those seem fair prices but make sure the ext warranty is a full coverage not just power train coverage
