Can I travel to the US after interrupting the 'changing status' on a regular tourist visa?
I am married to a US citizen, left the country 1 1/2 yrs ago with our children (legally) and he wants to see them for Christmas now. I used to be in the process of changing status to become a legal resident alien but I had to leave my husband (he treated me very badly) before anything was through. Now he wants us to fly in for Christmas so he can see his children, which I am willing to do, but I wonder if there might be problems for me when I try to enter the country at the airport. The children have all american passports and I will have my roundtrip ticket. Has anyone ever had a similar experience? Does anybody know? I am a native german.
oh, I forgot to write that I left my husband AND the US and went back to Germany being right in the middle of the immigration process.

When you left the US in the midst of the adjustment process, you abandoned your application. So if you enter the US now, it will be as an ordinary tourist.
As long as you were always in some legal status while you were in the US, you can still use the Visa Waiver. Of course, you might be questioned as you arrive - especially since you'll be in the company of your own US citizen children. Just tell the exact truth: you were adjusting, you were never illegal, you left him and abandoned your adjustment process, you are just visiting with the children for a couple of (days, weeks, whatever), you have no intention of staying.

First of all, I am glad you left the abuser, good for you! I don't have a direct answer for you, however, it would be wise for you to go to the US embassy and directly inquire how this will affect you or your children....Best of luck....
