I was born in into a christian family but that is the not the reason why I believe in God .When I was about 17 years old I had to take a decision; do I want to continue or give it up?I decided to read the Gospel one more time .That was the best thing I did .The feeling was undescribeble .I decided "yep this is what I want "The Gospel is very convincing ,very compelling how can people not believe.?The part that hooked me most was that part about doubting Thomas and "blessed are they who have not seen and yet believe".Christ is the most remarkable man if you think He is not God.I mean He captivated many people His apostles, St Francis,Gandhi and million others.

The sheer awesome quality of our world within a galaxy which is one of untold numbers of galaxies stretching for unimaginable distances into the universe . Science can give me no clue as to why this should be . Not how , but why ? Forget organised religion for a moment and think long and hard about the person of Christ , his life , his teaching ,unsurpassed in its wisdom ,and most crucially how he spoke about his mission , his prophecy and fulfilment of his death and Resurrection . There was no more staunch opponent of the first Christians than Saul , for him the (Jewish ) law was paramount and he was fervent in his opposition to early Christianity . Much more so than any anti christian voices you will find on this forum ! When his sight was taken from his inner blindness was cured and he knew the truth .

his testimony should resonate in our lives today . jesus really saves !

If you have to ask this question, you obviously dont know God. God is not here to make life easier, in fact, believing in God, most of the time, makes life more difficult. God created the Earth and created us to serve Him. Why? Well, He wanted a creature who "CHOSE" to love him, and was not conditioned to love him such as a robot could be. We are among the few who can choose God or disregard him. Either way, we will enter upon the judgement day and be sentenced to an eternity in Heaven or eternity in Hell.

God exists. Less people believe in God now than ever before. There has been a steady campaign over the years to get people to think materialistically. Godless people are more likely to be compliant to "the way things are". People who have a sense of right and wrong and spiritual conviction tend to stand up for their beliefs more. Godlessness spreads fear, ignorance and cowardice because all the unbelievers can see is the void

I am a fellow atheist but I can defiantly can understand why people support religion.

    A) Many different churches off help to those who need it.

    B) Some have read the different religious documents and found them to be enlightening.

    C) Some people have grown up under strict mental conditioning to believe in that religion solely

    D) some are FORCED to believe in certain religions.

    You have asked two questions.

Those who have a religion have not met God.

To "believe" in God is not really the point, is it? Anyone can believe in anything as you believe in no God.

Can one "Know" God is a much better question, and the answer is yes, one can. Not via ones brain, for that provides no proof of Gods existence at all. But experientially, over time, as ones life changes for the better and ones thoughts of negativity are evaporated in favor of empathy, Knowledge, and contentment. it does, of course, help to have met God in person.

    1) People believe in God because of many reasons: because other people around them believe in God too, because religions give promises, and because having a religion is considered a must in some places.

    2) It makes life easier because when people are depressed they can find hope in religions. And when they are okey they still find security in religions.

Basically, people have religions because they love themselves, and want to have a better life on earth and in the afterworld world.

Why bother to do anything that does not make life easier?

We each need to figure this out for ourselves. Try it and see what happens.

Or don't. It's up to you, but like the Buddha says, don't believe anything without some degree of personal experience.

I became a Christian at a friend's baptism, when I met with Jesus. I wasn't looking for Him or expecting it, but suddenly I just understood for the first time that he is real, he came and filled me with a feeling of peace and love. This happened without anyone else knowing, nobody prayed over me or anything. I was instantly healed of depression. Since then I have dedicated my life to learning about Jesus, His claims and way of life, and tried to be more like him. It doesn't follow that life gets 'easier', it just means that when things get bad, and they do, I have a loyal, living. loving God/father who shows me the way through it and makes me a better person if I let him.

it doesn't matter what your religion is. what's important is your heart's content...don't be too religious, instead be more spiritual. having God in your life doesn't mean you're going to have an easier life, because you have to undergo many hardships to test the end line of your faith in him. but with God, you're safe...even if you're thrown in a fiery furnace, you won't die....it's a matter of faith, so be spiritual. read, I'm not sure if i've got the chapter right, Daniel 3, and you'll know what i'm talking about
