I was diagnosed with PCOS about 5-1/2 years ago. The best thing to do is to either check out some books from your library or buy some at Amazon.com (or bookstores). I found a couple great books that were very helpful for me. I did get pregnant about a year later after losing about 50 pounds. If you are overweight, try to lose some weight and then attempt to get pregnant. If you're not, try ovulation methods, etc. My doctor said fertility would be a last resort, but luckily it didn't have to go to that. There is a great website with women who have PCOS - soulcysters.com. Terrific place to meet people who are going through the same problems and issues!

I'm 22 too and was diagnosed 2 years ago. The only time I have a hard time dealing with it is when I think about it. My life is normal and everything as far as pregnancy and diet is concerned, but I have a hard time dealing with it emotionally because I feel like there's no one around me in my family who understands. Good thing I have a good friend who doesn't have it who took the time to look things up and learn what it is. She is helping me out really well. She can tell that if I follow a good diet and exercise like my nutritionist recommended, then I feel a lot better than if I just eat whatever I want to. But I find it's most important to have a good support system.
