I believe that like in any "Job" there is a settling in period. I think a position as big as that of Pope takes a good deal of energy, thought and planning. Pope Benedict has very large shoes to fill. Pope John Paul was very well loved by the world, but it didn't happen overnight. I would hope that Pope Benedict is using this first 12 to 18 months as a period of discernment to see where our faith is in danger and where it is strong, where he needs to bolster us and support us and where we are in sync. Keep him in your prayers and he will be a blessing to our church.

Who is "we". We don't need a pope.

The pope is more like a CEO. He runs the business of the catholicism. Catholicism continues to dupe millions of people into believing in the supernatural and the incredible. He perpetuates mythology and what is really frustrating is that this office seems to have bearing on government policy.

What isn't charismatic about a pope named Ratzinger!? With a name like that, who isn't going to take notice?

He is really smooth on his comments about Islam also.

Maybe people should look within for their personal truth instead of trying to find someone else to tell them what is true?

why you have a leader who stands up against islam, and you call that nothing?
