Pompey's form; is it Kanu or the Whole Team?

I never knew Kanu still has 'this' much to offer. What a shocking revelation he's been this early in the season. Good for him though, cuz other clubs seemed to have snubbed him and now he's repaying Redknapp for his faith.

However, I think he's recent form has been more due to the re-invigorated team, though I will not overlook his personal contributions as well. The new look team has been amazing, and you really have to compliment Harry for bring in the new faces, particularly Sol Campbell, who was on his way to Europe but with some persuasion ended up on Pompey Island.

Kanu has been magnificent I must say. Realize that he hadnt played any competitive match since the end of last season (except Dennis Bergkamp's testimonial where he played 45 mins), and yet come into the team and be the current top scorer for the league!!!

Lets give him some credit for now, cuz he might not retain the spot in the coming weeks.

Hopefully, there will be a new era at Portsmouth although there is a long way to go.

On 19th July 2006 co-owner and club chairman Milan Mandarić transferred full ownership of the club over to Alexandre Gaydamak. After a 7 year tenure that has seen Portsmouth rise from the brink of liquidation into the top tier of domestic football, Mandarić leaves a considerable legacy appreciated by the majority of the club's supporters. In finding a new owner who appears to have both ambition and a willingness to invest he looks to have secured a bright future for the football club. As a show of thanks to Mandarić's work and probably also due to his popularity with supporters, Mandarić remains at the club in a role as Non-Executive Chairman.

So far England internationals Glen Johnson, David James and Sol Campbell have been signed as well as former under 21 midfielder David Thompson. Nigerian international Nwankwo Kanu has also arrived on a free transfer after being released by West Bromwich Albion following their relegation. Serbian midfielder Koroman returns to Fratton Park on a season long loan after having arrived half-way through the previous season but being hampered by injury.

The season is a long one but third is a promising start. Kanu was impressive against Middlesborough scoring 2 goals in a 4-0 start. Of course, such a good result cannot occur without the whole team playing well.

Let's hope the Pompey chimes will be often heard this season.

There are several factors at work for Pompey.

First, they are obviously riding a HUGE wave of confidence from last season's finish. Redknapp deserves credit for making them a hungry, organized team.

Second, Kanu is as hot as a blow torch! Everything he touches seems to find the back of the net.

Third, Portsmouth haven't hit the hardest part of their schedule, yet. Their dominating wins against Boro and Rovers are eye-opening, but let's see how they fare against Man Utd. Also, Blackburn appears to have lost some quality.

the addition of campbell and james along with kanu has improved the whole team. primus is a solid player as well.

Yes i think they have a tiny chance but if they have a couple of injuries at the same time the Wheels will FALL OFF!

Every year a small club start off well and finish in the bottom half of the table.

Suprized they beat boro 4 nil as they didnt go on all out attack at man city. though they should have had a penalty.(but Weaver may of saved it)
