My son was always this way and later it became a little bigger problem. Ask your doc for a list of foods that are constipating. You would be really surprised at what is on that list. Some foods people think help work the other way.
When a child is constipated like this and it goes on for years they land up stretching there intestines and lose the feeling of having to poop like normal for a while.
Kero syrup or a little mineral oil will make the BM more slippery to come out naturally but, you need to find the root of the problem.
Of course cheese and Banana's are a big no, no but, again get the list from the Dr. that explains more constipating foods.

Try giving him just a little juice to drink instead. Juice is a wonderful thing! (It's a must at my house b/c of my little girl's 'problem.') You can water it down so that it won't give him a belly ache, and stick with something non-citrus, like apple or white grape juice. It'll be easier on his tummy. This should loosen his bowels without giving him diarrhea.
B/c you don't want to overdo the fruit juice, just give him a little at first. Wait a couple of hours, and if he doesn't have a bowel movement, then give him a little more. Continue until he does. I doubt it'll take more than twice though, from what experience I've had. It usually works the first time.

Laxatives! Why give him laxatives when a few dried dates will do exactly the same thing?
All a kid needs, in my experience, is to eat some dried apricots and dates everyday, along with a good regular diet including weetbix and other high fibre foods. My three year old eats dates and apricots every day and never has constipation. Do try this, please; it's natural, non-stressful and it works.

When you boil the milk put 2 or 3 pieces of garlic let it boil and the milk will also reduce when u boil for 10-15 minutes give that milk to the baby the constipation will be over.

lots of water, a balanced diet, and pears are an excellent natural help for constipation when it occurs.
stay away from sodas and artifical juices, no gatorade either. whole milk and water is good, so is apple juice.
he needs a variety of veggies and fruits, as well as grains and meats and dairy. just dont overdo it on any one thing. and hydrate hydrate hydrate! also, too much milk or cheese can cause constipation

Try giving him a little bit of prune juice in his cup of fruit juice. It doesn't take much. I would not do this no more than twice a day. We did this for both of my kids when they were little and it seemed to help just fine.

make sure he's drinking lots of water, apple juice works well for constipation as does prune juice (you may need to water it down though to dull the flavor).... Things like bananas, rice and applesauce can be constipating so try to limit those foods.

Apple juice always works w/my boys
You could also try brown sugar water...sounds crazy, but it works
Does your son eat a lot of cheese? My oldest, who does....tends to get backed up when he eats a large portion of cheese.

Take a natural approach. Look at his diet. Are you including enough fresh fruits and veggies? Is he drinking more cola than water and juice?
