Do you pray at the dinner table?

Please, don't say "no, because God isn't real." I'd mainly like to know from people who follow some sort of religion involving prayer.

If so, what do you pray? Do you pray the same each time, or is it always different? Just wondering!

Yes, i pray at the dinner table and ask the lord to bless over the food and thank him for letting me have the food because some people doesnt have any food at all, and it is god that allows me to have the food, and if he didnt feel i should have the food, i wouldnt have it, so i thank him for what he has blessed me with, for i am thankful of what the lord has give and blessed me with because i have enough food, shelter, basic needs, and alot of wants that i dont really need.

You might want to think of my church's motto or saying or whatever you wanna call it, Little is much if god is in it.

    My prayer sounds like:

Dear heavenly father thankyou for this wonderful food you have given unto me and thankyou for keeping me safe throughout today please keep on keeping me safe as long as i follow you and show me the way lord, in jesus name i pray, AMEN!

As one of Jehovah's Witnesses I recognise the need to thank my Creator and to talk to him in prayer.Whether it be just before a meal,or on my way to the train station,or just to thank Him for the beautiful day of life.

Sometimes you can't help repeating the same things when you are praying. For example thanking God, however Jesus warned at Matt.6:7-"But when praying,do not say the same things over and over again, just as the people of the nations do,for they imagine they will get a hearing for their use of many words."Instead our prayers should be spontaneous-not a babble of words that we don't even understand but an expression of what we have to say to a loving and exalted God.And the wonderful thing is we can talk to our Heavenly Father whenever the need.

  • We pray. If the men are present, they do the praying and it usually is pretty much the same each time. Not so much because they think it's the only way to pray, but because they're sure they remember everything if it's always pretty much the same.

If I'm with other women, we pretty much pray based on whatever is going on that day and that God will bless our food to nourish us.

Its usually along the same lines. The main thin is that the prayer gets through. Man looks on the outer appearance but the Lord looks on the heart.

Oh, yes. I do pray. I just say a short and sweet simple prayer like this :

Dear Father God, thank you for the food you gave us. Please bless them so that we may get the nutrients we needed. Please also take care of the world. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen.

Sounds like a kiddy prayer right? But I know God accepts it!

Cos he loves kids as well as adults!

Yes, we pray every time that we set down to eat...so do my kids. We also pray everyday..to stay in communion with God, and we also say our prayers at night.

No. I pray everyday. Table has no real reason for me to pray there.

If you mean do I think about or say a verse in gratitude for the bounty ...

Then no, but that's because I consider all my actions to be a prayer of thanks. I'm living my life, why else am I here?

I pray before and after every meal. I feel it aids digestion.
