isJonah the last person in the OT who directly converses with YHVH in the tradition of Moses, Cain, Jacob etc?
I realize there are other prophets following Jonah, and there's the obvious advent of the JC down the line etc... But Jonah represents a very specific "conversational" relation with God hearkening back to Adam that is later abandomed. The other Prophets are more reiterations of visions that had been allowed them by God. thanks for your help
well actually Jacob got his damn hip popped out wrastlin with the big guy. that seems direct enough contact to me. And I guess Jacob's direct confrontation and seemingly contrary behaiviour to god (imagine Him saying uncle!) that I'm most interested in. Thanks for your help

The truth is even Jonah only had visions, he might have been able to talk back but was in a trance like state. The only person that ever was able to talk to G-d awake and alert was Moses. Even Abraham and Adam either heard a voice or went in to a trance.

You may be right, but you should check other bibles that include books left out of KJV.
