Who has read the "Hitchhiker's Guide" and if yes what did(n't) you like?

I re-read it about 12 months ago, when the film came out, and I embarrassed myself laughing at it on public transport on more than one occasion. I particularly loved the way that Douglas Adams twisted logic back on itself.

Also, the bowl of petunias was fantastic.

I read it long before the movie came out, so my memory is a bit faded. I enjoyed the creativity, but it was a bit chaotic, and the humor was sometimes pretty obscure. However, it is interesting to note that the series inspired a rather amazing web site by the BBC (well, actually, I think it was started by the author and some fans, and then taken over by the BBC) which either is or was named www.h2g2.com. Last time I went for it, "Windows could not display the page."

i havent read the book but i seen the movie.it was a bit stupid because of the ending. it had a good thing going for a while. i was actually in to it and then it failed me at the end.
