When swimming slenderizes, what are blue whales doing wrong?

You don't find overweight animals in the wild. When you find animals with large fat reserves like whales, the fat reserves are there for the purpose of retaining heat, storing calories for times when food isn't available, or both. That's why most arctic animals look pudgy to us. They are wearing their winter parka underneath their skin.

In the case of aquatic or semi-aquatic animals, fur or fluffy feathers would not be practical.
