I have some data of female convictions in Australia in the 1800s.

There are 5 classes (states) of crime that a person can be convicted of: 1,2,3,4,5. With a date the conviction occurred.

Treating the time steps as just "from one offense to the next" (ignoring the actual dates), I need to estimate the one-step transition matrix to be convicted of one class of crime to being convicted of another, using some method of counting each transition.

Note: it is possible to go from a class 2 crime to a class 5 crime in one step.

I would be very grateful if someone could explain how best to tackle this problem. thanks.

I have an equation W = -0.01D + t + 20 that represents the Weight of fish (W) determined by the depth in meters (D) and the weeks gone past since the experiment started (t). Quick run down, W decreases with depth at a rate of 0.01kg/m and Weight also increases at a rate of 1kg/week.

Ive done all other questions associated with this assignment except the last one which has stuck me!.

I need to find when and where should the fish be caught to ensure a Weight range of 20kg - 22kg.

Am i supposed to be representing this by an equation or fixed numbers etc?

A quadratic surface is described by the two functions

z = f(x,y) = 1 + 1/12 (196 + 4x^2 - 16x + 9y^2 + 36y )^1/2

z = g(x,y) = 1 - 1/12 (196 + 4x^2 - 16x + 9y^2 + 36y )^1/2

Just for clarification that section in brackets is all square rooted. I would be grateful if anyone could show me the steps involved to put these two functions in standard form and/or a set of general guild lines for doing the same with any other set of two functions. Cheers

It's as though I'm being looked down upon as being inferior to "believers", who think they're better off than me because they don't have the apparent "disease" of atheism.

Hello, I'm human, so are you. I'm entitled to believe what I want and I don't want you telling me Im inferior to you because of a belief.

No wonder there are inequality problems in the world.

but I come on here and all I see is constant debating and arguing over religion and the meaning of life and how we came into being etc etc.

It is clear that some people hold beliefs to be so important that the fact that those beliefs are dividing us human beings doesn't even matter anymore.

For example, I had a Christian girlfriend once, her parents demanded she break up with me just because I was atheist. I was an "outsider" to them. I wasn't even treated like one of them.

There are people out their who are not noticing what is most important. We are all human.

It is therefore, In my opinion, what we do in life is much more important than what we believe. Is that not a fair statement to make?

Quite recently, I have developed the strong urge to follow one of my passions that have grown throughout my life. The Unison of Humanity. I believe I have the right mind set, the will power and determination to make a difference in this world. I just don't know where to start, to get people's attention and support.
