  • Which of the following is grammatically correct?

I am creating a web application, and in the context of an array of check boxes, I started wondering whether or not the `standard` was actually grammatically correct. So, of the following, which would be proper?

    "Select all that apply"

    "Select those which apply"

    "Select all which apply"

  • Subaru Legacy error code reading wire?

I've read the instructions on this site http://legacycentral.org/library/literature/codes.... but can't seem to locate the wire in question on my 98 Legacy Wagon. The only disconnected wire I saw was a green connector to the far back right above the gas pedal.

    Any help?

  • How can I put a battery on my 70's moped for lights?

I have a late 70's moped (not scooter... it's a puch) in which I have installed an aftermarket lighting coil. At idle, it puts out less than 10 volts, but at wide open throttle, it can put our around 20. I would like to install a small SLA (sealed lead acid) battery off of which to run lights and would like to keep the battery charged with the power coming off the engine.

So, the question is, what do I need to do in order to keep the battery charged properly? It seems to me that if I were to simply wire the output from the coil to the positive node on the battery (and ground the ground to the frame) that when the engine is off, the lighting coil will then essentially become a short in the battery and either burn out the battery or fry the lighting coil.

Any suggestions? How is a car's alternator wired to the battery?

  • How can you tell if a cars head gasket has been replaced?

I'm considering buying a 98' Subaru Legacy Outback, the year/model of which does suffer from the 'phase 1' head gasket problems (internal leaks causing overheating). The guy selling the car does not know if it has or has not already been done on the car, so I'm wondering if there is some way to find out, either by some visual inspection or by some sort of service history stored somewhere.

  • How much would it cost to replace the head gasket on a Subaru?

I'm considering purchasing a 98 Subaru Outback Legacy, but the particular car has not had its head gasket replaced (and it's pretty much guaranteed that it will eventually go for that particular model/year). How much would it cost to have something like that done when it does go?

  • How can I get a new title for a motorcycle I bought?

I bought a classic Honda motorcycle from a local guy (1974 cl125s), and was told by the seller that because of its age, it did not need a title. After speaking to an insurance rep, I find out it does need one, and there is a title out there somewhere.

So, I call him back, and sure enough he has the title (I'm assuming at this point that he is not intentionally lying) but it is not clean (was signed over to him, but now has no room to sign over to a new person) as he never registered it himself.

So, I've asked him several times now if he has had a chance to get a reprint of the title, and he seems to be simply ignoring my emails. I don't suspect he is hiding anything as much as he is being lazy.

Is there any way in Massachusetts that I can bypass all this and just go get a new title myself, or do I need to hunt this guy down?

  • What law mandates supermarkets to scan their own cards?

I was told that legally, supermarkets that have some sort of 'rewards program' in which customers may obtain a discount card with which they may receive discounts on products are required to, when asked, swipe their own card to provide you with the same discounts, regardless of whether or not you are a 'member'. What is the actual law that dictates this?
