What terrestrial vertebrate lost its digits but kept their limb [no snakes]?
I know titanosaurs lost their digits in their forelimbs. Due to their massive weight, they pretty much evolved highly specialized columns as forelimbs.
Emu's also lost their digits.
Limusaurus, a small theropoda, also lost its digits in its forelimb.
What else?
6 AntwortenBiologyvor 1 WocheWhy were sauropod dinosaurs so much bigger than any other animal on land before or after?
There are 3 groups of dinosaurs: theropods, ornithischians and sauropods.
The biggest theropoda ever weighed maybe 10 tons [smaller than many land mammals].
Ornithischians were the same size as mammals [biggest ever being close to 20 tons just like the biggest land mammals ever].
But Sauropods destroyed every record before and after.
We could blame the environment, but the other animals back then were comparable to mammals in size.
To me it seems the common denominator has something to do with sauropods themselves. Why were sauropods specifically so big, even compared to other dinosaurs?
2 AntwortenZoologyvor 2 WochenAre we the most fascinating species to ever evolve on earth?
There have been more successful species in earth which have perfected a body plan and have witnessed little to no change across the eons. There have also been species with more widespread distribution than us [usually small animals]. Almost all human species have gone extinct but humans were the first animal to use fire!
After the quaternary extinction, we were the only humans left and from then we have advanced technologically exponentially. Now we're primates that use cars to move long distances, and we've gone to the moon!
If you were an extraterrestrial with a time machine and you knew earths history, wouldn't this be the most intriguing time to visit earth because of us?

7 AntwortenPoliticsvor 1 MonatAre feathers highly specialized fur?
Archosaur protofeathers were similar and served the same purpose as therapsid (mammal) fur. Pterosaur protofeathers were similar to bats.
However, dinosaurs evolved highly specialized "fur" which could be used to display or intimidate, eventually for birds this led to a new method of flight (unlike bats and pterosaurs which needed a wing membrane). Do we just have primitive "feathers"?

If you're working why are you entitled to the check? Check sounds nice but we have national debt that is over $27 trillion. USA government expenditure needs major cuts and possibly some tax hikes, giving more handouts is financially irresponsible.
5 AntwortenPoliticsvor 3 MonatenAll species inevitably go extinct. How do you think our species will go extinct?
We are large animals, successful large animals tend to last a few million years, really successful small animals last tens of millions of years.
How long will modern humans last? Several other human species went extinct, there was even a miniature human species called Homo floresiensis, it too went extinct.
How do you see us going out?

I got Bud decision. I feel both men are strong, Brook schooled Porter, and while he lost to Spence i think the GGG devastation and then dropping 2 weight classes within 6 months led to his second stoppage loss.
But Brook is strong and can box so i see him lasting 12, but i don't see any welterweight today outboxing Bud. He has too many tools. Make your predictions before the bout you cheatin basturds

I have registered it with WGA & am submitting it to several producers, but would like to get peoples reaction. It's a tragedy but more realistic depiction of humanities extinction.
Plot: can be modern or in the future: doesn't matter. The protagonist, lets call him John, works for the gov., is a single father, knows the president. He's on vacation abroad & out of nowhere a massive earthquake flattens the city he is in [earthquake resistant buildings fall], while escaping a massive shockwave flattens a massive region the size of the USA, shortly after he hears a deafening boom. Our man survives. Fire rains down. He makes it out, fly's back to the USA. By now it's all over the news, a meteorite similar to Chicxulub made impact, no one saw it [like no one sees far larger meteorites that pass by us every year, maybe put in an explanation on how radar is inefficient in space so we can only rely on what little we can see].
Following the impact many volcanoes erupt globally, the sky gets dark, days after stores run out of food, chaos ensues. Our man visits his friend the president. White house is grim, president addresses the nation shortly after John arrives: the gov. will be mailing out sedatives for euthanization: explains how there isn't enough food in the world for the coming 10 year nuclear winter, prays everyone remains calm. Off air prepares himself and his family for euthanization. Our protagonist refuses to give up, he has a kid. Speaks with a military friend who...

I was in the mall with my lady and mom, while they were in a store I waited outside minding my business when out of nowhere a teen girl and her mom then brother and dad surrounded me an told me to erase the pictures of their teen daughters butt. I was confused but told them I did not have pictures, and to clear all doubts unlocked my phone and showed them my recent photos. They saw said I was good 👍 but the mom was still going off on me telling me she's 13. Rest of the family had sense saw i had no photos so they took her and left. I walk while looking at my phone sometimes so maybe they thought I was taking pics.
I felt like I was owed an apology, my mom (who's visiting) and gf came out of store i didn't say anything but later when I left the restroom I saw the family who surrounded me. Their mom irked me more but I took it off on pops because honestly if things get out of control I'd rather knock out pops not mom. I got in his face told them they owed me an apology for the ridiculous claim then i made a scene honestly I'm a nice guy but was ready to throw hands, my mom and gf were confused but pulled me out of there (I was in his face). I left their family silent shook. I could see their perspective it would be unacceptable but if I unlock my phone and show you my gallery right when you accuse It feels like not apologizing to me is disrespectful. Thoughts

Tough fights. I favor Charlo a bit against Rosario, Rosario has been stopped before and Charlo smaller Charlo is explosive. I could be wrong but the difference i see is Rosario's been stopped.
Now the Derve fight i think is tougher to call. While that Charlo is undefeated, Korobov gave him a tough fight. He is new to middleweight, and with Derve he is going against an elite. Derve gave both GGG & Jacobs issues. In the weigh in Derve was looking strong. Stylistically both are there to fight. Charlos uppercut can give Derve issues, but Derve pressure is like nothing Charlo has faced.
I got Charlo tko Rosario rd9

2 AntwortenBoxingvor 7 MonatenLeopard Seal vs Salt Water Crocodile?
These animals normally don't cross ranges, but with global warming more and more leopard seals have been found roaming Australian beaches, and salt water crocodile range is only expanding with the warming waters.
What will happen when 2 healthy, hungry adults cross each others path.
1 AntwortZoologyvor 7 MonatenIs runaway global warming inevitable? If so, where will it stop [Permian extinction replica]?
China has surpassed USA as the #1 CO2 emitter, India [population over 1.3 billion] will soon surpass us [if they haven't already]. 3rd world countries will continue to develop, hikes in CO2 emissions is to be expected. Thanks to fracking, extracting fossil fuels is more efficient [thus cheaper] than ever. We are far from it, but is a Permian level extinction inevitable [growing deserts engulf the world]?
5 AntwortenPoliticsvor 7 MonatenWas USA justified in using 2 nuclear weapons during WWII?
From what I've read, the nuclear bombings were used for both a strategic purpose [war manufacturing centers] and as an intimidation tactic to threaten Tokyo into surrender, which they did. Supposedly a land invasion into Japan would have cost far more lives. Thoughts
12 AntwortenHistoryvor 7 MonatenWould humans survive a dinosaur extinction level impact?
Chicxulub meteorite landed on the ocean, an area the size of the USA would become a no-mans zone as fire would rain from the falling debris shot up from the impact. A tsunami would sweep the world several times, its size and destruction would be hard for us to quantify or imagine.
Then impact would kick dust up, the tectonic shock of the impact would cause massive earthquakes and a global volcanic eruptions, all this would make the atmosphere toxic.
Then the bad part begins. Volcanic eruptions and impact debris would spread globally causing a 18 month-10 year long ''nuclear winter'', which means for that time the world would be in an endless night thanks to the atmospheric debris blocking out the sun, global temperatures would plummet and photosynthesis would cease. All plant life and phytoplankton would collapse, animal life would follow. The only warm blooded animals to survive would be tiny generalist [small rats, small pigeons].
Today there are 7.8 billion humans, we are big warm blooded animals that need a lot of food, with global agriculture collapsing and then vegetation collapsing could we survive?
4 AntwortenHistoryvor 7 MonatenWhich Economic Block would you prefer to live in: USA or EU [''capitalist'' vs ''socialism'']?
In USA by law you can receive medical treatment [the best and most expensive in the world], but you risk going into debt if you do. USA relatively small gov. means most people have to pay their way through higher education, people risk falling into deep debt but the opportunity for economic growth is unequal. Most global tourist are American because of this & 50% of immigrants apply for USA residency.
In EU by law you can receive medical treatment [ok quality, at no cost at all], no cost no strings attached but many times a long wait time.
EU relatively large gov. allows most people to get through higher education at no direct cost to them, though the higher tax rate is what pays for it. Essentials are mostly covered by the gov. but most people must work for a roof over their head and for any wants, though the higher tax rate yields little net profit so most live paycheck to paycheck, few get to travel or spend on luxuries [average car is small and unpractical].

What has he done to get so much hate? The man was raised middle class but built his company from 0, now he employees hundreds of thousands of Americans, has a $15 minimum wage for the least skilled laborers! I personally know some Amazon engineers, all make 6 figures but this doesn't make the news.
Bezos has built a stronger middle class than some countries!
He also offers a product which billions of people enjoy.
Amazon has avoided FEDERAL taxes [a loophole due to all the new jobs they created] but why is this Amazons fault? Shouldn't you blame the gov?
