I have difficulty relating to my in-laws because I find them rather petty and small minded and the type of people who take pleasure in other's misfortune. My father-in-law appears to be gentle, but when you take the time to listen to the things he says, he's full of how rich he is, how much this cost, how much he spent on that, how awful x, y and z are etc.

I don't see them often, but when I go, I get very worked up and when I return I'm stressed out for weeks.

Can anyone offer me any solutions please?

My OH's 40th is in December. We are based in London. Can anyone think of somewhere really nice to have lunch or spend the day/weekend in London/South East.

I know there's lots to do, but what would make it really special. Problem is we can't rely on the weather in December.

If you found out you were infertile, would you adopt or consider surrogacy? What would you have to consider when thinking about these two options. Or would you just think that's life, it's not meant to be.

I recently got married and a friend gave me £60. She is now getting married and wants gift vouchers. Should I now give the same amount or different. I feel that if I give the same, it's a bit odd. If I give more, it's as if I'm showing off and saying I'm more generous than you. If I give less, I feel tight.

Any suggestions please?

My fiance and I are having a small wedding for close family and close friends. His mother has decided she wants to invite her brother-in-law (her deceased sister's husband) and her niece and nephew. I've never met them and my fiance doesn't know them very well: he hasn't seen them for a year. The BIL now has a new partner. The nephew and niece have partners too.

Given, we are NOT inviting a lot of OUR own close friends, how do we avoid inviting the girlfriends/boyfriends of these not very close relatives.

Or do I have to stick with just mine and my fiance's names?

E.g. it's a small wedding in a small room, I wanted my little niece to be flower girl, but MIL said her grandchildren had to be, ie six of them. I don't even know them, never seen them. Turns out I can't have that many cos room too small etc. What do I do? My niece should still be a flr girl though! Please help.

Also do they keep the wording formal, ie Mr & Mrs Smith, given that they have never met them?

Help please. Does anyone know if using beads to make the ring smaller damages the ring? Are beads comfortable? And is there any other less permanent (but comfortable) way apart from resizing please. Thanks!

My mum would like to add my name to the title deeds making us joint tenants, so the property would pass to me on her death, and avoid inheritance tax.

Does anyone know if this can be done easily and by myself without using a solicitor please?
