I just happened to walk past an argument on a busy sidewalk and witnessed a guy pull a gun. I'm actually on vacation and had no clue of where I was at. Not knowing where to run, I quickly turned, ran down the street away from the argument, hid in a corner and called 911. Of course they ask for your name and number. After the initial gunman was caught, I approached an officer to tell him what the other 2 guys involved looked like because they had guns and were still out there with ME, and I had to walk several blocks back to my hotel. The officer blew me off and didn't want my info. Really!

Later, an officer called me and said he would drive to my hotel to get a statement. Sure, I didn't mind. An hour later, a detective calls trying to "trick" me into coming "downtown". He offered to pick me up with lights and sirens on. Ok.... since when is that fun??? He was trying to make it sound excitiing. He was coming up with all kinds of excuses as to why a statement was easier to take "downtown". Finally, I let him know that he was speaking to an educated adult and I knew I didn't have to come downtown to give a statement. Finally, he says, "Well, what I really want from you is to pick this guy out of a line up and give a recorded statement and by the way, do you know Angie"? WTF! Why not just say that to begin with and NO i don't know Angie! That made me very uncomfortable. It sounded as though he was trying to make me a part of this incident. I refused to go and told him I would call the next day. He said ok, and we ended the call. I later received numerous more calls from officers apologizing for the detective's actions and offering, AGAIN, to come to me and get the statement. Something about this seems strange to me now. This is their everyday job and they sound confused.

So now, I don't want to give a statement at all. The way I feel about it, the officer on the scene, should have taken my statement when I approached him to give it to him. Someone should have came out when I first agreed to it and the detective shouldn't have called me with his inappropriate tactics. I no longer want to be involved. They should just get a copy of the 911 recording. Afterall, what I said to the operator, is ALL I know about the situation.

I would like to know, If I am actually "obligated" to give a statement because I called 911 after seeing so little of the incident?

Trying to complete foster parent forms for my dad. It's asking if he receives AFDC. Thanks in advance. He recently began receiving food stamps for the foster children. He is new to this.

My father is disabled and recently had to take in 2 of his grandsons through the department of human services. He has taken classes to become their foster parent. He will be provided income for boarding, clothing, etc. I was wondering if these amounts are taxed and if he will need to file with the IRS next year. He is elder and I will be taking care of the filing for him if necessary.

I worked in 4 states last year (doing contract work). I claimed my PDA in my state of residence. Turbo Tax automatically added it as a 179 deduction for the other states as well. Can I use that one item as a section 179 deduction in all 4 states? It just seems like I should only claim that in one state. I don't want any trouble with the IRS. Thanks in advance.

I just realized I was sold the wrong computer. I paid for a 4G computer, but was given a 2G computer. They are telling me, they have no way of pulling up the price of the computers from a year ago. However, the computer is sitting on the shelf in the store with a tag showing the original price and the new sale price. They're trying to get out of compensating me for the situation.

I purchased a vehicle at a time when my credit score was low due to identity theft and fraud on my record. I really needed a new vehicle, so I had no choice but to make the purchase with a high rate. I am now considering refinancing my vehicle for a lower rate. I know nothing about refinancing and am concerned about the after-effect of refinancing.

Does anyone have a problem with multiple copies of songs appearing in the Macbook's iTunes? I have to go through my library and delete duplicates on a regular basis. Is there a setting that will prevent duplicates from appearing? I'm certain I'm not downloading duplicates.

In 2001, I was a victim of a violent crime. The judge ordered the criminal to prison time and $5000 restitution to be paid to me. The criminal has been out of prison since 2004. In early 2006, I contacted the court system to inquire about the restitution. I was told it would be given to me as it was received from the criminal to the parole officer. I received a $625 check in December of 2007 as payment from the criminal's parole board (I think that's where it came from), but nothing else. I'm overdue to be paid. I'm suffering from severe nerve damage and really need the funds in order to be treated.

I am a contracted worker. From day 1, I have been reminded, at least once a week, of how easy it is for contracted employee to be fired. I shouldn't have to hear that at all, especially from managers! Isn't that a form of harrassment? I can't deal with it anymore. I'm writing a 2 weeks notice right now. A good friend of mine, another contracted worker, was recently fired after receiving multiple harrassing threats the same as I. I don't want to give them the opportunity to fire me. I am considering initiating and representing myself in a civil case against a contractor. I have been recording conversations between the contractor and myself, without the contractor knowing. Can I use the recordings as evidence in the civil case or is it considered illegal to record someone without them knowing. I don't want to harm myself in the process.

Isn't there a way to record audio on my macbook. I simply want to transfer recorded audio form a digital recorder to my laptop. However, the digital recorder does not work with Mac. Isn't there a way, I can just play the recorder and have it recorded onto my Mac via the Mac's microphone?

I currently use the gps system on my blackberry phone. It is about $65/ month. I'm thinking about purchasing one from a store. I keep hearing, they are often not accurate because they aren't able to keep up with new construction and have expensive upgrades. The blackberry gps automatically upgrades with construction changes. Anyone have any trouble with the gps system purchased from a store?
