What would be the mechanics of going back on the gold standard? Would the new dollar be worth one to one with the current bill, or would there be a conversion factor?

I don't need arguments for or against such a move, just trying to understand what would happen to cash in pocket, in banks, and the value of prices and wages.

I got into windows XP with safe mode to try and find out why it keeps crashing. (Old HD in new computer). Used msconfig, and made some changes. It now boots directly into safe mode, and after user select screen, tells me I need windows activated, but I that I can't activate windows while in Safe mode! I tried every option under F8.
