Mr McKenzie- Tears of Joy
I'm twenty years old. Anyone reading this who questions the existence or divinity of Jesus ought to click the email button above to elaborate why. I am not trying to convert anyone to my own position; however, I pray that the Holy Spirit will assist skeptics in evaluating the evidence for the existence of God and Jesus’ claim to be the Son of God. As a passionate Christian who respects science and critical thinking, I have found that the greatest service I could provide for my unbelieving colleagues is to "explain and defend the belief that has been common to nearly all Christians at all times" and, of course, love them with the God kind of love. I answer questions on here in part because they have inadvertently increased and strengthened my faith in Christ by and large, but the greater reason is to give an answer to those who question the hope that I have as commanded in 1 Peter 3:15. For this reason, I am always open to discussion about God and the Bible.
Did former atheist Antony Flew commit the unpardonable sin by following the evidence wherever it leads?

If you’re wondering what evidences Flew is following, I suggest reading his book ‘There Is a God: How the World's Most Notorious Atheist Changed His Mind.’ But for now, I’m wondering whether or not he committed the unpardonable sin; did he?

12 AntwortenReligion & Spiritualityvor 1 JahrzehntJehovah's Witnesses: Is Jesus a true God, or a false God?
This becomes complicated so stick with me.
There are lots of gods, according to the Bible. It comes as a major surprise to many to learn that the Bible teaches this. Even a cursory reading of Deuteronomy 32:15-21 reveals a warning about 'strange gods' and 'new gods' that is very contemporary. The Jehovah's Witnesses often concede that Jesus is a 'mighty god,' but they deny that He is God Almighty like Jehovah is.
The teaching that there is both a God Almighty (Jehovah) and a lesser 'mighty god' (Jesus) goes against the clear teaching of the Scripture that there is only one true God. John 17:3 says, "Now this is eternal life: That they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent."
If you say Jesus is a false god, you are contradicting the 'New World Translation' of Scripture, since John 1:1 in this version says Jesus is a god.
If you say Jesus is a true God, you are also contradicting the Watchtower understanding of Scripture. John 17:3 says there is only one true God, Jehovah.
Thus, is Jesus a true God, or a false God?

10 AntwortenReligion & Spiritualityvor 1 JahrzehntIs this the meaning of a secular society?
What Hitler did not believe and what Stalin did not believe and what Mao did not believe and what the SS did not believe and what the Gestapo did not believe and what the NKVD did not believe and what the commissars, functionaries, intellectuals, Brown Shirts, Black Shirts, gauleiters, and a thousand party hacks did not believe was that God was watching what they were doing.
And as far as we can tell, very few of those carrying out the horrors of the twentieth century worried overmuch that God was watching what they were doing either.
Isn't that, after all, the meaning of a secular society?

11 AntwortenReligion & Spiritualityvor 1 JahrzehntWhy should people remain good when unobserved and unpoliced by God?
"Perhaps," Richard Dawkins speculates, "I... am a Pollyanna to believe that people would remain good when unobserved and unpoliced by God."
I am under most circumstances the last person on earth to think Richard Dawkins a Pollyanna, but in this case I defer to his description. Why should people remain good when unobserved and unpoliced by God? Do people remain good when unpoliced by the police?
If you believe that they do, you must explain the existence of criminal law, and if you believe that they do not, then you must explain why moral enforcements is not needed at the place where law enforcement ends.
14 AntwortenReligion & Spiritualityvor 1 JahrzehntBy what standards might we determine that faith in science is reasonable, but that faith in God is not?
It may well be that "religious faith," as the philosopher Robert Todd Carroll has written, "is contrary to the sum of evidence," but if religious faith is found wanting, it is reasonable to ask for a restatement of the rule by which "the sum of evidence" is computed.

If a premise ("There is no God") leads to a conclusion you know isn't true ("Napalming babies is culturally relative") then why not change the premise?
Hint 1: If God does not exist, objective moral values do not exist.
Hint 2: Nobody is saying you must believe in God to be moral.

...appear to be planned billions of years in advance for the arrival and benefit of human species?
The New York Times published that famous quote by physicists Freeman Dyson, who looked at the evidence for fine-tuning and said: "The universe in some sense must have known that we were coming." But then the author added: "This notion horrifies some physicists, who feel it is their mission to find a mathematical explanation of nature that leaves nothing to chance or the whim of the Creator."
Scientist Francis Collins puts it well: "When you look from the perspective of a scientist at the universe, it looks as if it knew we were coming. There are fifteen constants... that have precise values. If any of those constants was off by even one part in a million, or in some cases, by one part in a million million, the universe could not have been able to coalesce, there would have been no galaxy, stars, planets or people."

...figment of our imaginations?
Certain coincidences between Jesus and other figures can only be expected due to sheer probability. As a modern example, let's look at some of the coincidences between Kennedy and Lincoln as taken from here:
1. Lincoln was elected to congress in 1846. Kennedy was elected to congress 1946.
2. Lincoln was elected president in 1860. Kennedy was elected president in 1960.
3. The names Lincoln and Kennedy both contain seven letters.
4. Both were presidents during times of major changes in civil rights.
5. Both presidents were killed by an assassin's bullet on a Friday.
6. Both assassins were known by three names consisting of 15 letters.
7. Both assassins were killed before their trials.
8. Both men were succeeded by men with the surname of Johnson.
These coincidences may seem startling at first but really aren't that impressive once dissected. But in 2000 years, will future civilizations look back on the "ancient Americans" and accuse Kennedy of being a figment of our imaginations?
This is a hypothetical question.
