I'm writing a novel wherein the main character is arrested for murdering his wife. He is terminally ill, but no one knows it, not even his grown children. He does not mention it to the police. Obviously, though, his condition while in jail is going to begin to deteriorate rapidly. My question is, is the family of a prisoner (in this case, one who is in for murder) notified when she or she is having health problems? Would they let his daughter know, and what would she need to do?

Okay. I'm writing a story in which one of the main characters kills his wife. (I don't know anything about incarceration so I'm relying on you guys for accuracy!)

How long would it be before his two adult children could come and see him? Would they be able to see him immediately after he was booked into the jail - like, go right up there after they receive the phone call - or would they have to wait? What would happen in a situation like this?

Four days ago I started spotting. It started out dark brown and now has just faded to light brown. There hasn't been any red blood, no cramps, and it hasn't even been heavy enough to need a tampon. It's time for my period, but I don't think this is it - unless it's just really, really weird for some reason.

My question is, could implantation bleeding last for four days? I had it (barely) with my first son, and it was only a couple of incidents when I wiped. I didn't have it at all with my second son.

If it isn't implantation bleeding, then what could it be? My period has always been heavy and lasts for six or seven days. Any ideas?

When a prison inmate dies, who tells the next-of-kin, and by what method? Phone? Home visit?

I'm in the process of writing a novel, and one of my main characters is dealing with an illness - but I can't be sure it's realistic, because I'm not in the medical field. My idea is that he has a brain tumor, and my question is this: is it realistic for a patient to be diagnosed with a fatal brain tumor, given a very short time to live, and still appear outwardly fine (no symptoms)? If so, what type of cancer would cause this?

I'm currently working on a novel in which the main character is killed by her husband. For credibility, I need to know what would happened to the husband immediately following his arrest and beyond (he readily admits to murdering her, so it isn't like he's trying to proclaim his innocence or anything).

Also - what would happen to their home, since the wife is dead and the husband is incarcerated? Would power of attorney be granted to their children, or what?
