  • Hair strand changes from normal color to gray and back again?

I have dark brown hair but i have 4 or 5 hairs that transition either from normal at the root to silver, or silver at the root to normal. In every case, the silver section is 6-8 inches long (my hair is over 3 ft long), and extremely tightly kinked/curly compared to my regular hair texture which has very gentle waves. There is at least one strand that is normal at the root and tip, with about an 8 inch section being curly and silver in the middle. My hair has not been dyed, permed, treated, or even blow dryed in over 10 years.

Anyone else have hairs that exhibit multiple colors/textures on the same strand like that? Just curious!

    What is in this vial?

I found this along with a used syringe and needle. I suspect it is not a... legitimate prescription drug... Any idea what it could be?

  • POLL: Is it a good idea to give banking info to someone who you are dating, who you have known for 6 months?

You need someone to transfer money from your savings to checking account for you, but do not have access to the internet.

You've known someone for 6 months and are dating them. Things are going well, and you feel like they are trustworthy. Is it a good idea to give them your online banking login info, so that they can transfer the money for you?

  • What's the deal with 2-year-olds?

My son is 2 and he has this thing he does where he changes his mind all the time. For example: He tells me he needs to go to the bathroom. So I take him to the bathroom, then he flips out and bursts into tears, and says "no! no!" and won't get on the toilet. but then if we leave the bathroom, he instantly starts asking to go potty again. He does this with everything - he asks for a drink and then won't drink it, he asks for food and then refuses to eat it, and he does it with being "all done" too - when he finishes going potty, he says he's all done and gets down, but when I go to put his pants back on, he starts sobbing and wants to get back on the potty. He will literally do this indefinitely, if I let him. Same thing with being all done eating - he will say he's all done, but when I go to clean his hands and get him down from the table, he cries and doesn't want to get down.

I imagine this is all normal 2-year-old hocus pocus, but it defies logic and I can't make sense of what he's hoping to accomplish with that behavior, or what he's thinking, and I'm not really sure how to respond. I'm guessing it's about trying to control me, and control the situation, and so far I've been kind of trying to ignore the fits and act according to what he said in the first place. That works fine for the mealtime rigamarole, but I'm worried about the part where he won't go potty when he says he has to. I'm trying to make going potty fun, so that he will be sure to tell me when he wants to go, but I don't want this to become something where he's allowed to act like a monster and jerk me around.

Can someone explain what's going through his mind to cause this behavior, and maybe suggest how I might react to discourage the craziness and help him express what he wants & needs correctly?

  • Does the water in Seaside, Oregon taste & smell awful?

My husband and I are vacationing in Seaside, Oregon. I notice a very very strong smell and taste of something like moss or seaweed in the water, so strong that, after a shower, I can smell it on my skin for hours. I can also tell whether drinks are bottled from elsewhere or made with the water locally, because even lemonade or iced tea or even soda from a pop machine has such a strong moss flavor that I can't stand to drink it. At first, my husband said he couldn't taste anything other than a slight taste of chlorine, but after awhile he said he could notice it if he drank it very quickly.

Now I feel like I'm going insane! It's not that I'm being picky and making a big deal out of a tiny taste in the water - when I taste it, it's overpowering, to the point that I can't taste anything but moss.

Has anyone else tasted mossy seaside water, or is it just me?

  • Any caregivers ever had dreams about the old person you take care of?

A friend of mine works with 2 other people in shifts to take around-the-clock care of an elderly lady everyone calls "granny." Granny is 104 years old, deaf, very small, and has been wheelchair bound for years. My friend, as well as both of the other people who take care of Granny, have all had strange dreams in which they either walk into a room and find Granny standing up and doing things, and then when she sees that she's been discovered she scurries back to her wheelchair, or else that they're working and Granny walks up behind them and taps them on the shoulder, which startles them since Granny obviously can't do that.

Have any other caregivers ever had dreams like that?

  • What can you tell me about adoption?

I have a 3 month old son, whom I enjoy immensely (he's a good little dude), but really really did not enjoy the process of pregnancy and childbirth. I'd like very much to someday have a little girl, because my husband and I would like to have a boy and a girl. However, I refuse to go through the process of having another child, especially since it could (probably would, with my luck) turn out to be another boy!

I'm interested in adoption, and I was hoping that people would be willing to share adoption experiences and information with me.

Right now, I'm leaning towards out-of-country adoption, for the simple fact that kids in need of adoption in developing countries don't have the opportunities that kids in this country have.

Please also know that I will not (will NOT) consider foster care/ foster adoption. I have a friend who has adopted a few children through the foster care system, and I can't see myself being willing to jump through the ridiculous hoops involved.

Obviously, my preference would be for a baby girl, but I realize that is pretty much everyone's preference, and I would consider any age child who was a good fit for our family.

Also please note that it will be a couple of years before I will be ready to do this, I'm just doing some research beforehand.

One last note, I will actually choose a best answer, so 10 points are up for grabs!

Thanks in advance for the helpful answers!
