I have been looking everywhere for a bacon hock but I can't find one anywhere; I do on the other hand have a ton of leftover leg ham from christmas day. Would it taste okay if I used leg ham instead?

I accept a job offer the other day for a temporary job and I agreed to take it, because I felt that I had no other choice. I'm supposed to start training tomorrow but I've just got a call from a place offering me a full-time position, which I'd rather take. I have already agreed to start training for the other job, but have not signed a contract. What should I do?

The full-time position starts on the 27th.

I haven't had the car for very long, but yesterday for no apparent reason, my driver's side door would not close, when I closed it it sort of just bounced back open. It works if I SLAM it really hard, but that's really not something I want to do to my car. It has been really cold lately, so I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it.

Does anyone have any idea of why this is happening and how to possibly fix it?

I have noticed recently that my car seems like it's going to conk out, but then it starts churning again. (sorry this is the best explanation I can give). Last night I took quite a long drive and everythign was fine. I pulled over to the side of the road to take a break. When I turned my car out though, my car's battery light was on. I thought that was strange since it's never done that before. All of a sudden all the lights on my dash started flashing (I think it was a warning sign telling me that it was about to turn off) so I pulled to the side of the road and stopped the car. When I tried to start it again, the lights would come on weakly but the engine wouldn't start when I turned the key.

I thought I'd come here because I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to cars and I would like to have a fair idea of what may be wrong before I take it to the mechanics.

I have moved my Betta fish tank into my bedroom, he is on my dresser next to my lamp. I was wondering whether or not it is okay to have the lamp on next to the tank, or will it be too bright?

I looked into my goldfish tank today, and I saw that he was just sitting on the bottom of the tank near his sunken ship. This is abnormal behaviour for him as he is usually very active and is always darting about his tank happily. Heck, even THIS MORNING he was doing the same thing.

This afternoon I came home and he was just sitting at the bottom of the tank, not moving. I did a 20% water change and cleaned his filter before I realised that most of his dorsal fin is missing! I have no idea how this could've happened! He lives by himself in this 20 gallon tank. Is it possible the filter did this to him? Will be be okay? What should I do I am SO worried!

It looks as if my goldfishes' tail is torn. Could this be from fin rot? There is no black spots or marks on his fins at all so I'm not quite sure. What should I do about this?

I have a comet goldfish in a fish bowl. I know that comet fish should not be kept in a fish bowl, I am getting a 20 gallon tank for him in a few days, but I would like to know how to look after him in the bowl for the meantime. Would I need to do partial water changes to keep his bowl clean? If so, how do I do this? Also, how do I transfer him from the bowl into the tank when I get it?

I'd really appreciate your advice, because I would like to keep him healthy in his temporary home.

F.Y.I: I definitely would not have bought the bowl if I had known at the time that goldfish should not be kept in one. The person at the pet shop mis-informed me, and I am a bit upset about this.

I have just got 'the pill' and in the instruction leaflet it says that you should take your first pill on your first day of bleeding for the pill to be effective immediately.. The thing is, I haven't had my period since coming of the injection (and i'm not pregnant, I've been to to doctor) not having your period after coming off the injection is a common side affect so I was wondering whether I should take my pill straight away? Would it be alright to?

I found a recipe for snowman cupcakes and I'd really like to make them for christmas. In the recipe it says to dip the frosted cupcake into shredded coconut to give it a 'snowy effect'. The thing is neither myself or my family like coconut, so I was wondering if anyone could suggest some alteratives that may look the same [:

p.s: I was thinking of grated white chocolate, but I'm not sure it'll work well.
