I was married close to 3 years, I am currently going through a divorce, I have two children. no assets, no joint debt except for the childrens expenses .My children stay with me 7 days a week the only time they are with my ex is when I am at work which is Mon-Fri from 8:00Am-4:30pm. I have them every weekend as. I pay for there diapers, cloths, food, dentist etc Solely even though my ex works. Even with me covering all of our children's expenses and keeping them full time at my own apartment, she still feels as if I should help her with her personal expenses, such as car, rent, food etc. Please note the expenses my ex has are debts she has created solely. When we were under a lease living to gather I shared the expenses. As of now in the community's opinion do I legally owe my ex any thing financially? lastly just for the sole purpose of identifying her charter she does things like pay to get her hair done, then ask me for gas money or go out to eat at a restaurant where she is treating her friends and then ask me grocery money from time to time I do help her even though I feel as if she is taking advantage.

I am a father of two boys, and I'm currently going through a custody dispute, with my soon to be ex wife. I am asking the court for full custody for the following reasons. My ex is receives government assistance (food stamps) for my children that currently live with her, she does not use the money to feed my children she buys food for her best friend and sells some and my children get whats left over. I also give her money for half her rent( at a place I don't live), money for my kids, plus I buy diapers, wipes, cloths etc and she still says its not enough. I do not have have a court order for child support. Her actions are very neglectful, and I feel she is harming my children. I know I probably should ask a lawyer, but has anybody had a similar experience with any good advice? Please be aware it is not my intention to get her in any trouble, or take our kids from her. I am only concerned with my children's well being and I believe she is unfit.

Lastly she will not let me see my children I have asked her several times can I see them and she says no I can not take them anywhere she doesnt want them to even see my parents, she says in order for me to see them I need to come over the place she told me never to come back to with her mother and her step father this is an attempt to intentionally cause conflict. As of right now there isn't any court order for visitation, custody or support. What is the best way for me to resolve these issues?

I have a friend who got a divorce from her husband a couple years ago and she recently saw him and he is now way more successful then when they were married....he has a house, finished school, nice car, jewlery in better shape and for some reason my friend seeing her ex husband doing that well made her furious why is that ? I asked her and she never wants to talk about it. So besides the obvious why would an ex becoming successful make anyone envy them?

I realize divorce with children is never an easy descision, however I have my mind made up I have weight my options and all possible outcomes and decided divorce is for the greater good of everybody involved in this situation. The problem I'm having is my spouse does not want to divorce me and trys using our children to get me to stay with her. I love my children and she knows this and she uses them to her advantage which isn't right saying things like I can't have a relationship with my kids if I'm not with her, saying they come as "package" these are by birth children mind you. How do I make go about doing this? I have tryed counseling, done my best to make my relationship last but it is going nowhere fast I'm very unhappy. Life is too short and you only live once This is the tuffest desicion I've ever had to make, any advice helps.

I have seen many examples of how divorce works, splitting assets, child support, custody battle, alimony. But I am curiosity to know how does a low income divorce work? Say for instance two low income people get divorced and don't have any assets like a house, and things of that nature is divorce still a long miserable process?

I am considering divorce because of my spouses financial irresponsibility. I am 23 years old and I have two children and I've been married for two years, I am considering divorce because my spouse is BAD!!! With money, she has priority's completely mixed up. The thing that makes matters worse is we have been to money management and budgeting seminars and still no positive result. Now I Handel the bills as far as rent, utilities, cable, diapers for our kids, insurance etc. The only things she is responsible for paying is her car payment and her cell phone bill, and it is very rare that she even has money for these things, mind you she works full time just like I do and I pay the all the family bills and she still constantly asks for money. Also her mother and brother will call her and ask her for money I'm talking 4 and 5 hundred at a time and she sends it they never pay her back,I have told her how much of a bad idea doing this is and she gets angry with me. I know in my vows it says for richer or poorer but it says nothing about being a push over or a complete idiot who cares nothing about your lively hood . I feel my future will be filled with financial issues if I was to stay married to a person that bad with money and unwilling to change. Now I love her but to save my children from a life of poverty I feel I have to do something drastic. I have stayed this long because I feel if we divorce and I end up paying child support the money I pay would not be used to properly take care of my children. Also we have had joint bank accounts they were all over drafted to the limit, she has numerous payday loans that she doesn't pay on ,owes a few different banks money as a result there is no bank she can even cash her pay check with. And other places charge a fee again financial irresponsibly. Now I'm not on here to down talk or point the finger she needs guidance and to change her ways is my point, in the mean time I have to make sure my home expenses are taken care of and my children. So is divorce the right choice?

Hello I married with two children and I'm on the verge of divorce. My ? Is how will the expenses me and my wife currently share be effected by divorce? I'm referring to rent, utilities and other expenses? I am aware that which ever parent is awarded custody is most often set up to receive child support payments. But are these expenses apart of the support order? Also I don't have any assets with my wife and we have only been married about 2yrs so alimony is more than likely out of the question but I would just like to know how that works? Because I want a divorce but I don't want my kids to struggle.

This is just hypothetical but can a judge award me custody if my children were to become homless?

If a parent was trying to file for sole custody and to do so you have to prove the other parent to be unfit how can this be done?

I need some advice on what to do. First I am in a bad marriage that is at its end and Its time that I go before our arguments escalate, there is no chance for counseling or reconciliation been there tryed that, I have two children that I love dearly and I need to leave the home but I don't want my kids to think I am abanding them because I'm not I just can't stay in a marriage that is just getting worse with time. Do women still think that in a marriage the man is supposed to Handel all the family bills alone or is it a partnership? Isn't that what marriage is supposed to be?

I am divorced from my wife and we have two children together. The issue I am having is she feels I am obligated to her even though we are not together and she says I can't do things for my kids without doing for her as well? She says her and kids come as a package and I am my children's biological father? Does she have the right to try to demand such things? I also pay support for my kids as well?

How come more men aren't awarded child custody? Do they just not fight or what?
