2 AntwortenEconomicsvor 10 JahrenTo Die or Not to Die?
Did Enoch die as Hebrews 11:13 seems to imply or was he taken as stated in Genesis 5:24 and Hebrews 11:5?
(Genesis 5:24) And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.
(Hebrews 11:5) By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, ‘and was not found, because God had taken him’; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
(Hebrews 11:13) These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
3 AntwortenReligion & Spiritualityvor 10 JahrenAre energy subsides still necessary for companies that make a good profit?
Some people say that inefficient energy subsidies lead to wasteful consumption, while others say they are mandatory to reduce costs for consumers and producers.
Could reducing energy subsidies to companies force them to reform their operating programs in order to reduce cost?
Would subsides be more effective if companies had to compete for them?
1 AntwortGovernmentvor 10 JahrenShould the US look at modeling all hospitals after the modern Veterans Hospitals?
Ten years ago, veterans hospitals were dangerous, dirty, and scandal-ridden. Today, they're producing the highest quality care in the country. Their turnaround points the way toward solving America's health-care crisis.
Who do you think receives higher-quality health care. Medicare patients who are free to pick their own doctors and specialists? Or aging veterans in VA hospitals? RECENTLY, on all 11 measures, the quality of care in veterans facilities proved to be "significantly better."
It's natural to believe that more competition and consumer choice in health care would lead to greater quality and lower costs, because in almost every other realm, it does.
But when it comes to health care, it's a government bureaucracy that's setting the standard for maintaining best practices while reducing costs, and it's the private sector that's lagging in quality. That unexpected reality needs examining if we're to have any hope of understanding what's wrong with America's health-care system and how to fix it. It turns out that precisely because the VHA is a big, government-run system that has nearly a lifetime relationship with its patients, it has incentives for investing in quality and keeping its patients well—incentives that are lacking in for-profit medicine.
Veterans' hospitals used to be a byword for second-rate care or worse. Now, thanks to technology, they're national leaders in efficiency and quality.
In 2006, the cost per patient has was roughly $5,000. But total health spending for the average American was $6,300.
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates that the VA’s health care cost per enrollee grew by only 1.7 % from 1999 to 2005, which amounts to 0.3% annually. Medicare’s costs grew 29.4 % per capita over that same period, or 4.4 % per year. In the private sector insurance market (employer and individual plans) premiums increased by more than 70% during this period.
The answer to the healthcare problem is modeling all hospitals after the VA system, where the government owns the hospitals, clinics, and labs, and employs the doctors and nurses.

2 AntwortenInsurancevor 10 JahrenIf the US healthcare system was COMPLETELY converted to a not-for-profit / non-profit system?
that was ran by private entities, how would the quality and costs of healthcare be affected?
The entities would not be ran by government or for-profit investors or companies.
All income above expenses would be used to improve the health of the community, instead of focus placed on how to best serve investors.
Maybe all health insurance companies should be non-profit as well?

7 AntwortenGovernmentvor 10 JahrenWhy do people abuse animals?
These are people who intentionally hurt animals because they enjoy hurting others or because it makes them feel powerful. A lot of these people want to have control over others. They will hurt an animal because they think this means they control the animal. Or they may hurt the animal to control another person.
