2 AntwortenChemistryvor 9 JahrenSwollen glands, temperature and ill for 2 weeks. Help?
I'm not into self diagnosing but I've been feeling pretty awful for about 2 weeks now. It started off as a cold (blocked nose, headaches, phlegm) and then Wednesday over a week ago I got a temperature which varied from 37 (normal, after paracetamol) to 38.5 degrees. I was very busy so I didn't stop doing anything until Monday this week where I slept about 10 hours a night but did stuff in the day. I was almost better until yesterday (Friday) when I had all my cold symptoms (minus the headache), plus some quite solid catarrh and majorly swollen glands so it's painful to swallow anything (including water) and also very blocked ears which are painful to pop.
Any ideas as to what could be wrong? I haven't taken my temperature recently but feel as though it may be a bit high... Although I don't feel lethargic or anything.
Thanks a lot and sorry it's so long!

He was an accident by a TB racing stallion but I have no information about his dams side. He's fast (obviously), very sensitive but not as springy as a warmblood but that could just be the TB in him. What do you think?

1 AntwortOther - Petsvor 10 Jahrenhow does this horse look for my teenage daughter?
My 16 year old daughter is a competent rider and rides 4-5 times a week (the other two/three days the horse would be ridden by her instructor). She has just grown out of a welsh and is looking for something a bit bigger (she is 5'6) and a bit of a project to work on. We found this horse nearby and would like some opinions on it. What do you think? She would be eventing.

Also, what breed do you think he is? His sire's side are all TB racehorses but no one seems to know his dams side... Any ideas? My guess is that he was an accident. He is 11 years old and the asking price is £5000. He has perfect ground manners, loads (with a bit of encouragement) and is not at all bargy but I haven't ridden him yet.
Thanks a lot!

5 AntwortenHorsesvor 10 JahrenHow do I cope with a divorce?
My parents split up this time last year and every since things have been sort of OK - as OK as they CAN be in such a situation. I'm 16 and for a while I coped 'really well' apparently, though I sort of felt things were a bit precarious and that I was often holding the family together by sorting out as many of my parents' and 3 sisters' problems as I could.
However, recently, I've begun to feel quite depressed because I've been noticing that my family is properly breaking up. My parents naturally fight the whole time (I'm learning more and more about the custody and other agreements about the divorce) about various things, often petty. I'm not blaming them because I know it's difficult but they seem to be behaving like children ,ignoring each other then sending messages through me, I don't know what to do! me and my sisters aren't compassionate towards each other much at all now - we used to be really close. And though I'm at boarding school for the week, whenever I go home for the weekend there is so much tension I can barely stand it...
My dad frequently gets angry now and is very short tempered (we used to be the closest in the family and I've always been the one who can make him see sense and calm him down) and then tries to repay it by being lovely and buying me small presents etc. My mum doesn't listen to anything anyone says at all :(
I honestly am at a loss as to what to do and I don't want to go home really, ever, until it's sorted out. But I feel that *I* should be the one sorting it out, as that's what I've done before!
I know it seems like small issues in the larger scheme of things but it really is making me feel the most depressed I've felt in a long time.
Thanks.
3 AntwortenMarriage & Divorcevor 10 JahrenDo you think it's a problem for someone to feel bad every time they eat?

4 AntwortenDiet & Fitnessvor 10 JahrenHow can I stop eating so much when I'm not hungry?
I'm sure there are several questions similar to this one and I know I'm not alone but I want a personal answer.
I'm 5'6 and 114lb's. It's a healthy weight but it fluctuates from 127lb's to 110lb's about 3 times a year because of what I eat. I have a problem where I go around eating a LOT all day. For example, today I had:
Breakfast: Mushrooms, 1/2 a tomato and 1/2 a grapefruit
Break: Tea, 3 biscuits, 1 apple, handful of cashews
Lunch: salad, tomato, cucumber, beans, low fat yoghurt
Break: 1 Actimel yoghurt, 2 tbsp corn flakes, 2 tbsp peanut butter, 1 pear, 4 walnuts
Supper: chickpeas, mushroom soup
Break: 1 tsp peanut butter, 1 bowl of porridge.
I mean, that's A HUGE amount for one day and even though it's not really unhealthy, it's a LOT and none of those times was I hungry. And yet I ate! Why am I doing this? I feel so ashamed :-( I did 45 minutes of squash today too.
Thanks.

10 AntwortenDiet & Fitnessvor 10 JahrenI really enjoy losing weight at school. I know it's unhealthy but is it a problem?
I go to boarding school and only go home every 2 - 4 weeks. In the holidays I put on weight until i am at what I call my 'comfortable' weight (comfortable for my body that it, not me) which is 8st 8lb's (I'm 5'5). I eat a reasonable amount because my parents feed me but am very food conscious and feel bad if I eat anything wrong.
When I go back to school I restrict my diet to 700 calories a day (as I am allowed eat what I want), sometimes more, often less. I also exercise 1 hours a day, 5-6 days a week. Naturally, I lose around 8lb's in around 2 months and it gets noticed. Why might I do this? I hate feeling fat and I get 'fat' in the holidays. i know I'm not ACTUALLY fat but it's fattER and horrible... Is this a problem? My lowest weight at school has been 7st 9lb's and my highest weight at home (within the time I've been doing this) is 9st. Neither are unhealthy weights but am I hurting myself? And do I have a problem?
Thanks.
18 AntwortenDiet & Fitnessvor 10 JahrenEmbarrassingly I have had diarrhoea for a week now - why?
Last Thursday I got a temperature of 100.4 and felt nauseous and very stomach crampy. The day after all these symptoms I had acute diarrhoea (passing 3 times a day for the next 2 days). Since then, I have had DISGUSTING diarrhoea (though no temperature) every time I poo :( But I'm not pooing more than 2 times a day now. Is there any reason to worry? I get stomach cramps too as part of the symptoms so I'd like to also know if there's anything I can do. Should I stop eating some foods? Take some drugs? I feel fine (if a little tired) otherwise. And what could be the cause?
Can anyone help with this? Thanks!
1 AntwortOther - Diseasesvor 10 JahrenMy horse is very strong against a simple bit. What should I do?
I have a ottb who is wonderful but ever since he's been off the track I've been training him (with a lot of professional help) to go more rounded, jump, do x-country, dressage, trec etc. Now he's built very differently but is still an incredibly strong horse, being 17hh and all. I ride him in a Micklem multi-bridle with a 3 ring gag (Pessoa) which is not severe at all, especially in my hands.
What I'm asking is how to get him to go in an outline in dressage. He has a brilliant topline (stronger riders get him in an outline well, and so does long-lining) but he never seems to notice my hands on the bit! I know a stronger bit isn't always the answer to a strong horse but I'm wondering if actually, with my soft hands it would be. If so, can you advise one? He's not too wizzy in jumping, just pulls against my arms a lot in dressage.
This is not me, it is his trainer (in a different bit of course)

8 AntwortenHorsesvor 10 JahrenHELP! How can I stop bingeing every time I go home?
At school I eat healthily - I have a tiny appetite there so I eat this sort of stuff on average:
Breakfast: 1 grapefruit, a tangerine, 100g low-fat plain yoghurt, 1/2 cup pineapple pieces.
Lunch: Lettuce, 5 sticks cucumber, a beefy tomato, tbsp cottage cheese and tbsp tuna. Pear.
Supper: Orange, salad, maybe soup (tomato)
Snacks: Apple, rich tea biscuit, tea
I exercise about 40 minutes - 1.5 hours 5-6 days a week.
However, when i come home I spend most of the time stuffing my face with every edible thing in sight! Mostly semi-healthy things like cereal, home made biscuits, fruit, nuts, seeds, bread, dried fruits etc. Only very occasionally chocolate or crisps... Just anything convenient really! I grab it and stuff it into my mouth without really tasting it. I WANT to feel hungry again but I never do! I blow up and gain 5lb's in a week, every time I come home. It's ridiculous! How do I stop it? I don't like stuffing myself until I'm full but I can very rarely control it!
HELP? Thanks.

This IS very important (to me at least) because of a number of reasons (one of which being revenge and we all know how good that can feel!) I have these four dresses and I was wondering which one I should wear to our school speech day? Hopefully it will be sunny (but it's almost never warm) and it's a picnic and involves lots of drinking and rolling around in the grass.

8 AntwortenFashion & Accessoriesvor 10 JahrenAm I gluten or wheat intolerant/allergic?
I can't tell!
I am 17 and a couple of months ago I stopped eating wheat bread (but continues eating rye, spelt kamut etc.), pasta, potatoes, rice etc - just a generally lower carb diet.
Now, when I eat rice or bread I become bloated and my tummy is painful for several hours - often for a whole day....
Is this because I am intolerant? I can, however, eat one digestive biscuit without noticeable consequences (as I found out today) and the occasional potato with other food.
What is this called and should I steer clear of anything?
Thanks!
