I noticed a pattern that every time there is an update (and if I go to the start menu amd click shut off, it ll say "shut down & update"), some aspects of windows suddenly stop working. Today, it was the WiFi; the entire device just switched off, and I couldn t turn it back on (apparently the driver wasn t working anymore).

This stuff has happened a lot before and every time there was an update too. I was just wondering

I am new to the game, I might add, and have trouble picking the right items and upgrades for my heroes.

I ll sum it up for you. I love a girl. That girl loves me. However, she has a boyfriend. She says that she has no feelings for him any more. But she is afraid to break up with him, because she doesn t want to hurt him and she is afraid to lose the stability the relationship gave her (her friends are also his friends so that might screw up things).

I m not sure what I should do with this. Of course I could be selfish and just push her to choose but I don t think that s a prudent move. But I also see that she isn t happy at the moment. And I just want to make her happy, I don t care what I have to do. I don t want to get in between her and her boyfriend. But I can t just let it go... I tried... but no. Any suggestions?

I know I don't stand a chance, but I would like to sleep now.

Let me just lay it out there for you. I met the most amazing girl since I started college over two months ago. We have a lot in common. When I mean a lot, I really do. Up until the point it is almost scary how much we are alike. We chat quite often (basically everyday), and I do enjoy that. Occasionally I go to her place and we listen to music all night. And just talk.

I don't know if I am in love (you give me a good definition of that feeling, because I don't know). But I just cannot get her out of my head. I already have trouble getting to sleep as it is, but the last few weeks have been even worse. I know that she has a boyfriend back in her hometown (she goes there in the weekends (I go to my hometown in the weekends too)). However, even though I know this, I still can't get her out of my head.

I don't want to tell her how I feel because I don't want things to get awkward between us because I really enjoy hanging out with her, even if it were to be as just friends. And I also know that she doesn't like the town we both go to college in (for reasons, not the study itself), so I know that she is not going to cut herself off from her hometown (and surely not for me).

Rationally, I can accept the fact that it's just not meant to be. But something in me is not accepting that, and it's costing me a lot of sleep.

I mean, chatting is fun and all, and I get along with these people (most of which are girls btw). But why don't they ever send me a text first? I always have to think of some reason to send them a text, reeling them in like a fish on a hook, after which we do have a pleasant conversation, usually. But why aren't they fishing for me? I'm not looking to date all of these people or anything, but why don't people randomly ask me how my day was (sounds cheesy but I'm serious. It's about the gesture)?

So one of the exercises in the homework is :

g(x) = x^3+kx is one-to-one for k>0

f(x) = x^3+3x^2+kx

For what value of k is f(x) one to one?

I know that a function is 1-1 if x=y and f(x)=f(y) but then I don't know how I can figure out the value of k. Could someone please explain to me how I can do this so I can do it myself next time?

PS: There was a hint in the exercise which is: "write f(x) in the form (x - a)^3, and

determine the value for a for which f(x) reduces to the form of g(x); the squared term vanishes. Use then

the result for g(x)"

Hello YA-ers.

I have been playing guitar for over 6 years now. I bought an electric guitar 3 years ago and I originally started on a normal acousic guitar (nylon strings, starters package, you get the idea).

Well as my skills improved so did the array of songs I can play. Some songs simply sound better with a steel string guitar so I decided to buy one.

However I have absolutely no experience nor knowledge regarding guitars. I know I'm looking for a steel string guitar with a cutaway. I don't care if there is an element in the guitar. So do you guys have any brand suggestions? I'm looking for a guitar in between €400-€700 ({+-} 436$ - {+-} 763$).

I also would like to be able to play on it before I buy it of course. Therefore, if you are suggesting a store: Only in the Netherlands and Western-Germany, thank you.

I see so many people quoting all kinds of random Biblical texts. I am just wondering how many people have actually read the entire thing. I read the Old Testament as a kid, because the stories were interesting, for example.

I'm not trying to disrespect anyone here, I just want an idea of the situation. I'm not going to argue with anyone by the way. Perhaps most of you really read the Bible and in that case, ok.

I'm sure when you stumbled upon this question, you thought: what the ... is this guy talking about, of course we emphasize God and Jesus, that's what it is all about, right?

Well that wasn't really what I'm asking here (honestly I used the words God and Jesus only to make sure this question ends up in the right section). I would be considered an Atheist, although I am not against religion or anything. I think core religion is a good thing for some people (just not me). However, I wonder why the emphasis is so on believing and serving God while I think that is not really what the entire religion is for. Never do I hear a religious person bringing up the moral codes that are in, for example, the Bible (or any other religious book). Because although I don't believe in God or anything, I still value those moral codes, like love thy neighbour and such. These don't really have nothing to do with religion of all but are in all those religious books. I think that's what religion is for: guiding people to a morally and ethically right path. But then why are so many people only talking about serving God and Atheists going to hell, whereas it's actually about the moral codes? (I'm not saying every religious person does this. It's mainly the people on this section, so don't feel offended if you are not who I'm talking about).

I can play quite some songs but I want to expand my repetoire with some songs. It's not like I play guitar only to impress people but I would like some cool songs though.

So anyone suggestions?

So over the course of history, the opinion, view of people of the concept 'God' has changed. Whereas in Classical times, the God was a punishing one, and in the Enlightment age, God was passive and had only created the world and wouldn't do anything further. And now we have a forgiving God. I wonder, how do you guys see God nowadays? What do you imagine he looks like? His habits, his doings, his temper, his will for the world and mankind. Really, I do want to know.

Well, yesterday we had a student organised action at school that allowed students to buy a rose to be sent to another student, anonimously or with a tag. Well I kind of have a crush on a girl, I'm afraid, so I also sent her a rose, with a realistic drawing of (of course) a rose tagged to the rose. Anonimously, cause I'm a coward.

So my best friend who is in her class knows this cause I told him a couple of days before that that I also sent a rose. Well on the day it was delivered in class he briefly said that she thought it was very sweet. She of course does not know who it came from.

And now, today, starts a week of vacation in which I can of course do absolutely nothing. But I was wondering, when school starts again, what might some suitable steps be I could undertake to win her attention. I know, it's one of those lame 'help idk what to do to get her to love me' stories but it is one so I might as well ask the more casanova types of you around here what's a good idea.

So some help might be ... in place. Not anything like : 'just step right up to her and talk' because I'm not such a straightforward hero. maybe something more casual (as said, I can draw a little, might come in handy or so).

I, do suffer from scoliosis.

I was just wondering how it feels, or is when you are operated (so when they put iron thingies in your back). Is it better than wearing that damn brace? Are there alternatives for the brace? What things are you able or unable to do after the operation? How does it feel to wake up after the operation.

Please don't answer this if you don't have experience with scoliosis.

I am just wondering, what language you guys think is a good idea to learn, especially if you are aiming to go abroad.
