Shouldn't we blame the refs?
Gregg Williams preaches using "remember me" hits. Then, he and the players took it to another level by actually trying to hurt players enough to force them off the field and possibly out of the game. The monetary rewards (bounties) for doing so was such an incentive that the players acted outside the rules at times. That's where the refs come in.
It's THEIR responsibility to stop that type of behavior. That didn't happen in the NFC Championship game against the Vikings. Brett Favre was hurt the most, but he wasn't the only Viking injured. The high-low hit (in clear view of at least TWO refs) was an obvious infraction that was NOT called. The interception on that play and Favre's lack of mobility for the rest of the game certainly changed the complexion of the contest. People are going to point to the numerous turnovers (Favre's INTs, notably) by the Vikings as the reason that they lost. They certainly were a factor! However, had the refs called the penalty, the Vikings would have had a First Down at the Saints' 19. The Vikings probably would have come away with at least a FG and the Overtime may have been unnecessary. The Overtime brought us even more questionable officiating (all in the Saints' favor), but that a whole another topic. The bottom line: The Officials allowed the Saints to get away with MUGGING the Vikings.
3 AntwortenFootball (American)vor 9 JahrenPro Bowl referees not best by position?
The Officiating crew that graded the best for this season will be calling the game. In effect, this is THEIR Super Bowl. In the actual Super Bowl, the crew will be made up of the best Referee, the best Back Judge, etc. This sounds backwards to me. The most important game played - as well as the amount of money bet on it - would seem to have the best TEAM of officials to go with the "2 best teams". What am I missing.
5 AntwortenFootball (American)vor 9 JahrenChild obesity. Is it really all about the food?
Now, it's been reported that somewhere in California, toys have been banned from Happy Meal type fast food orders. They want this food to be "less attractive" to kids. I agree that WHAT a kid eats should be monitored, but isn't the REAL reason - at ANY age - for obesity is the lack of physical exercise? I ate junk food and candy all day and was never fat. Why? Because I was outside running around and working it off.
Many schools no longer require PE (gym) class. So, besides not giving kids an outlet for their pent-up energy, the schools are preventing the kids from becoming agile and learning other skills that they will need in life.
When you USE more calories than you TAKE IN, you will lose weight. It's that simple.

I was one of their biggest detractors, but they played great today. Congrats, Saints!
1 AntwortFootball (American)vor 1 JahrzehntWill Peyton Manning really catch Brett Favre?
Brett has 497 TD passes and 69,329 passing yards. He has just completed his 19th season. Manning is 33 years old and just completed his 12th season. He has 366 TD passes and 50,128 passing yards. I think Manning will only play 3 seasons, maybe 4, and then retire.
Manning is 19,201 yards behind and needs to average 6400 yards per season if he plays 3 more years and 4800 if he plays 4 more. He is 131 TD passes behind and needs to average 44 TD passes per season if he plays 3 more seasons and 33 if he plays 4 more.
Granted, Manning is moving at a faster clip than Brett did, but can it continue? I don't think so and I doubt if he will care enough about being #1 to play until he does. He's fun to watch, so just like with Brett Favre, I hope he plays as long as he possibly can. He's just amazing at times.

My gosh, every time I see her, she is more beautiful. Is there another woman in football that is better looking? She looks great and has one of the sexiest smiles I have ever seen. That's my opinion, I know, but today she was just breath-taking.
3 AntwortenFootball (American)vor 1 JahrzehntHow about these rule changes in the NFL?
I think that rules pertaining to challenges should be changed to the Coach being able to challenge ANY play at ANY time. Not being able to challenge during the final 2 minutes of either half is junk. I also think that all turnovers should be reviewed from the start of the play until its end. Interceptions are easy to review. Fumbles can be another story.
6 AntwortenFootball (American)vor 1 JahrzehntWho has a solid, sensible reason why Brett Favre should have stayed retired?
I say that if he is still able to and wants to, he should be allowed to play. If you disagree, tell me why. Don't rant and rave. Give a well thought-out answer, please.
12 AntwortenFootball (American)vor 1 JahrzehntWhy has the outfits changed for the women wrestlers?
It seems that the censors went after professional wrestling and made the women cover their butts. I never agreed with the thongs that they wore, but bikini-style bottoms were always tasteful. And sexy! What do you guys think?
4 AntwortenWrestlingvor 1 JahrzehntWould women jump at the chance to spank misbehaving men?
If they didn't have to worry about wrestling him into position, keeping him there, or retaliation.....Wouldn't most women like the chance to spank the daylights out of man who is arrogant or just won't act approriately?
