  • Birthday party problem with a mom?

I'm having a birthday party for my son at a bouncy house. I have about 29 kids with (I thought) all 15 of their moms coming and a few grandparents. My problem is that one parent just told me that she won't be there just her 2 kids. She asked if her child's sister could go earlier... I don't have a problem with the invited child there without mom. But I don't know her younger sister who is around 2. With such a big party, if she starts to cry she will take up all my time. Which I don't have or want to deal with. Any suggestions?

  • Night potty training help needed?

My almost 3 year old is mostly day trained and is wanting to go pee on the potty at night. For three weeks he comes in and wakes me up to take him to the potty and is dry in the morning.

Problem is that I am getting very over tired. We have started to try to get him to go to the potty on his own but he will just pee his pullups and need to be changed (because he doesn't like it wet). Has anyone else run into this problem?

  • How do you night potty train a 4.5 year old?

He has been trained for about a year except small pee at night. The pediatrician didn't seem concerned he isn't trained at night yet, but I am ready to push it along more. Any tips?

  • 4 year old stutters anyone else have to deal with this?

I am thinking of getting him in speech therapy but my pediatrician isn't sure if he will qualify. Did anyone else have this with their child, what did you do to help it, did it go away?

  • Son finally asked to go potty now what?

I have been reading books about the potty and asking him if he wants to go for awhile now. He is 2.5 and has had little success until Sunday. I caught him and sat him on the potty for poo once and pee twice previously. Sunday he asked to go potty 3x and went pee twice and poo once all on his own. Now he hasn't said anything again. How can I encourage that to continue?

  • Potty training tips... when is the best time to train?

I had an awful time with my first child. I started at 2.5 years and struggled with him until he was 3.5 years when he became ready and it was easy from there on.

Now with the second one also at 2.5 years I am hesitant to start. He has done pee twice and will tell me to change him that he peed or pood. But he still doesn't quite want to do it yet. If I ask he says no thanks. A few months ago he wanted to wear big boy undies and looking back now I wish I would have just done it then.

Do you think I waited too long?

How should I go about potty training him now?

    Or should I wait?

  • Traditional names vs current trends?

Explain why you want a current trended name more that the traditional names like Mike, John, Steve, etc. My children will be going to school with kids that have names I have no hope of spelling unless they spell it for me. I want to understand why their parents chose to do that.

  • gentle parenting advocates question -what do you do?

    If your child...

    throws a tantrum

screams and throws things because he doesn't want to go to bed

    gets up repeatedly at night

    hits or pinches his brother

I'm not saying I always put him/her in time out or spank him for doing these things. But do you actually get these behaviors fixed by doing your style of gentle parenting?

  • Best way to get a 3 year old boy to follow a teacher?

    3 year old won't stay with teacher/group?

We had a gymnastics class today where my 3 year old needed to stay with the teacher without me for the first time. He kept wandering away and the teacher would call him back and he wouldn't come. I ended up needed to go down and instruct him to stay with her several times. Is this normal and any suggestions to make this easier on both of us?

  • Is there an easier way to get 21 month old off a bottle?

I really need to switch him and just found the best sippy cup online that my other son had used. Do I have to just let him cry. Any other recommendations?

  • Why do you think if he won't marry you he will stay around if you have a baby?

There must be something I am missing. It used to be you got married first because you loved and cared for each other. You make a commitment to work it out no matter what. Then you had the babies. Why are so many of you willing to make that leap before you have a ring?

  • What is the best sippy cup to use?

My 20 month old will not drink milk out of a sippy cup only water or juice. The bottle he prefers for milk and cuddling with mom. I really need to get him off the bottle but the sippy cup my older son used is discontinued. This is a very stubborn kid and I made the mistake around 15 months of giving into him with the bottle when he was sick and cutting teeth. Any help is appreciated. Please no "he is too old for a bottle" - I know he is. Thanks.

  • Potty changing diapers or underpants?

I am starting to potty train my son again and give him m&ms as a reward: 1 for trying, 2 for peepee, 3 for poo (not happened yet). The problem is with diapers on he will do a little peepee in the potty to get the m&ms but most is still going in the diaper. Today I took the diaper off after he drank his milk and he went again finally.

Is is best to just leave them off, put on underpants, or use diapers?

  • Help with 20 month old only wanting milk/bottle?

My 20 month old only only wants milk and only wants to drink it out of a bottle. He just cut 5 teeth back to back and was sick (4 were molars). I just got him back sleeping through the night. But he still won't eat much when I place him in a chair. Sometimes he may have a little egg/bacon/tomatoes/chicken. I give him a cup at mealtimes but he won't drink it. But most meals he is just missing. He does consistently want his bottle of milk after meals. Does anyone have a great way to make this transition a little easier than cold turkey that will result in a lot of crying. I thought of watering down the milk - does this work?
