  • Come si dice la parola "tetto" in italo-albanese? ?

Come si dice '"tetto" (roof in inglese) in italo-albanese o arbëresh? So che si dice çati in Albania, una parola di origine turca. Tuttavia è probabile che sia diversa in Italia e Sicilia. Qualcuno lo sa?

    Grazie per il vostro aiuto.

  • How do you say "It's like digging St. Patrick's Well" in Italian?

This is an expression Italians say for something that is difficult since digging the original St. Patrick's Well in Orvieto, Italy in 1527 (200 feet deep) was a monumental task.

Thanks for any help. I appreciate all answers.

  • Question about Puerto Rican Spanish 'Bomba De Gasolina' (Gas Station)?

It seems that 'gasolinera' is becoming the more common word for "gas station / filling station" in Spanish speaking countries. Yet, a book on Puerto Rican Spanish I once read published in 1964 lists 'bomba' for Colombia and 'bomba de gasolina' for Puerto Rico. 'Bomba' can also mean "pump" in Spanish. I was wondering how often the word (bomba de gasolina) is still used by Puerto Ricans? Is it considered just slang? Nowadays, I see Puerto Rican writers and bloggers on the Internet using 'gasolinera' or 'estación de servicio' almost exclusively. Thanks for any help and information. Really appreciate it!

  • What Is A Raincoat Called In Puertorrican Spanish?

The standard Spanish word for raincoat is "impermeable" yet there seem to be a lot of regional words used in Spanish too. A Mexican lady once told me that she called it "La managa de hule." I've read that capa de agua, gabardina and piloto are also used in various places in Spain and Latin America. A few sources I've looked at mention capa and capa de lluvia for Puerto Rico. Is this true? If any Puertorrican (Boricua) speaker of Spanish can fill me in on this I would really appreciate it. Garcias / Thanks!
