"A system that has two solutions of different concentrations separated by a semipermeable membrane has less entropy than a similar system having two solutions of equal concentration. The system with the differing concentrations is said to be more ordered, and thus has less entropy." can someone explain why 2 solutions of different concentrations have more order than 2 solutions of equal concentration?

  • ate some undercooked chicken, will i get sick?

i was attempting to do some cooking today, i made some chicken tenders on the stove, the outside was dark brown, i had it on very high for like 2 or 3 minutes so i guess just the outside got cooked, cause the inside was kinda chewy and tough, like a light brownish color. i ate one piece, by the next piece i noticed that they weren't cooked in the middle, the one i ate got a little cooked, so i didn't notice it as much as the others which still looked raw.

  • What is the value of the specific rate constant for the reaction...?

I just need help with the last part of the question, i put the rest in case that helps to find it though. any help is much appreciated

The following initial rates data were obtained for

    5Br1- + BrO31- + 6H1+ 3Br2 + 3H2O

    EXP____[Br1-]o__[BrO31-]o __[H1+]o __-[Br1-]/ t (M/s)

    1 ____0.300 ___0.130 ____0.200_____1.37e-02

    2 ____0.450 ____0.130 ___0.200 _____2.06e-02

    3 ____0.300 ____0.260 ___0.200 _____2.75e-02

    4 ____0.300 ____0.130 ___0.500 _____8.58e-02

    What are the reactant orders?

    Order of Br1- = 1 (Right)

    Order of BrO31- = 1 (right)

    Order of H1+ = 2 (right)

What are the units of the rate constant. Use exponents but no superscript. Separate M and s with a space. For example, use M-5 s-2 to indicate M-5·s-2.

    M-3 s-1 (right)

What is the value of the specific rate constant for the reaction (no units)? Hint: the rate constant for the reaction is not the same as the rate constant for the disappearance of Br1-.

  • Standard Reduction Potentials?

i need help finding the calculated potential, im not sure what im doing wrong here, i can calculate the percent difference right, but apparently the calculated value im using is wrong? (1.56 V) im not sure how that is so.

Complete the following table. The measured potentials are your experimental data. Use the table of Standard Reduction Potentials. to determine the calculated potentials. Use the Zn2+/Zn potential as the reference in each case. Please enter your potentials in volts. Hint: Use the Nernst Equation where necessary.

    Standard Reduction Potentials

    Zn 2+ (aq) + 2e 1– ⇌ Zn(s) ___ V = –0.76

    Ag 1+ (aq) + e 1– ⇌ Ag(s) ___ V = +0.80

The percent difference is defined as:

    [ (Calculated Potential - Measured Potential) / Calculated Potential ] x 100.

Note that, defined in this way, percent differences can be positive or negative.

    Ag-Zn

    Measured Potential = .365V

    Calculated Potential = ???V

    % difference = 76.6%

*yes i know the % diff is very high, ha*

    hydroxide Ksp

    Ca(OH)2 : 5.50e-06

    M(OH)2 : 6.52e-15

    Best pH = 13.0 or 12.5 12.0 or 11.5 or 11.0 or 10.5 or 10.0 or 9.5 or 9.0 or 8.5 or 8.0

What would be the resulting concentrations of the ions if the solution were adjusted to this pH?
