I did an online study concerning the effects of the instruction "do not guess" (DNG) in witness testimony interviews. I've done most of my analyses but am VERY stuck on this last one...

Conditions: control, simple DNG, explicit DNG

Ordinal data: Likert scale asking ppts if they saw X, Y, Z in the stimulus video of a mock crime,

with a scale as follows: "Don't know", "Very certainly yes", "Relatively sure yes", "Rather yes", "Rather not", "Relatively sure not", "Very certainly not". (coded 0 - 6 )

Extra: Level of trust ppts have in own memory, total scores recoded into categories low/medium/high

Questions I want to answer:

Does the instruction have an impact on how Likert-scale items are answered? (do groups differ?)

How do people with low/medium/high trust in their own memory answer them?

Are people with low memory trust more likely to answer "Don't know"?

I've looked up several different approaches but have only gotten myself more confused. Do I need to remove the "Don't know" responses before any analyses seeing as these are "non-answers"?

What test do I use to compare 3 groups even if my data is not normally distributed & has many empty cells?

Medians won't be very informative...

Im stuck doing statistics questions for psychology;

it would be great if anyone could help, if all else fails.

I have data representing 2 groups of psychology students in 2 different course systems,

the H0 being that there is no difference in amount of average ECTS points in year 3, H1 being that the ''PGO'' course group has a higher average of ECTS in y3.

Group 1 (general pop) Normal Course: N= ? mean= 117 std. deviation = ?

Group 2 (sample) ''PGO'' Course System: N=50, mean=119,77 std. dev. = 6,74

Assume z-scores can be used.

I've done a few questions on this (not 100% sure on them either),

the results from the research in 2011 resulted in a rejection of the H0, medium cohen's d effect size,

possibly a type II error etc, etc.

Question now: In 2012 the researchers want te repeat this study. They want to achieve a power of at least 80% (0,80). How big does N (sample size) have to be ?

The interest is calculated and annually reinvested for a duration of 5 years.

How do you calculate this if not step by step year per year?

Bei hotmail hat sich in den letzten Wochen & 2 Monaten einiges geändert,

es fasst z.B. Mails von einem Kontakt zusammen etc.

Aber letztens habe ich gemerkt, dass einige meiner gesendeten Mails nicht in der Outbox stehen,

und ich konnte sie auch sonst nicht finden.

Gibt es irgendwie einen Weg, die nochmal anzusehen oder in die Outbox zu kriegen??

J’ai trouvé votre annonce au supermarché ‘Inter Marche’, et je voudrais poser ma candidature pour la poste de vendeuse dans ‘parc Astérix’. Mon nom est Franziska Wolf, et j’ai 16 ans. Je suis de nationalité Allemande, mais je parle l’Anglais, l’Hollandais et le Français aussi. J’habite aux Pays-Bas, mais pour perfectionner mon français, je voudrais travailler au ‘parc Astérix’ pour un mois dans les vacances en été.

Au lycée, j’étudie le français, les maths, l’anglais, les sciences, l’art, la cuisine, l’historie et le théâtre. Je suis patiente, dynamique, et aime de travailler en équipe.

Pour loisirs je joue au tennis, faire de l’équitation et aller en ville avec mes amis. De temps en temps j’aide dans le magasin de mon père à la vente.

J’ai fait un stage dans le supermarché ‘Albert Heijn’ pour un mois, et dans une papeterie pour deux mois. Cela a été un succès- c’était intéressant et édifiant.

Je serai libre à partir du 23 juin jusqu’au 30 août.

Pourriez-vous me préciser les heures de travail ? Quelles langues parlent les clients? Est-ce qu’il y a une possibilité pour moi de logée dans le parc ? Qu’est-ce que vous offrez comme salaire ?

Ich feiere am Wochenende meinen 16. Geburtstag (DVD-Abend),

und werde mich ums Essen allein mit einer Freundin kümmern müssen.

Ich habe einige Ideen für kalte Sachen, aber irgendetwas warmes fehlt noch. Es sollte möglichst leicht und unkompliziert zuzubereiten sein,

für etwa 13 Personen. (DVD-Abend; also möglichst vorm TV essbar)

Ma Maison

Je suis née dans Dresde, et notre maison la était énorme- avec 3 appartements! Maintenant, ma grand-mère et mon grand-père y habitent. J’habite dans une maison mitoyenne qui se trouve dans Wassenaar aux Pays-Bas. Ma maison de taille moyenne n’est pas très jolie, mais les huit pièces sont agréables. Au rez-de-chaussée il y a le salon et la salle à manger avec la cuisine, une petite salle de bains et un garde-manger minuscule.

Au premier étage, on a une salle de bains, le chambre de mes parents; et la pièce à côté, c’est moi chambre. Ma chambre est grande, et j’ai un lit très confortable ! Il y a un bureau et une penderie. La autre pièce est un bureau avec des ordinateurs de mes parents, moi et mon frère. Le troisième étage, c’est la mansarde avec la chambre de mon frère et une buanderie. Son chambre est très grande est il a un sofa avec une télé- je trouve ca un peu injuste, mais j’aime ma chambre aussi.

Quand je suis serai grande, je voudrais une énorme villa blanche, avec beaucoup des pièces et un grand jardin avec un bain bouillonnant, c’étais géniale !

L’argent de poche

Mes parents me donnent 30 euro par mois- ils le déposent à la banque, car j’ai un compte d’éparque. Ils payent mes vêtements et le forfait téléphonique, que je trouve très généreux, mais au fond je voudrais acheter mes fringues moi-même. En général je réfléchis avant de dépenser mon argent, mais le week-end dernière j’ai jette l’argent par les fenêtres- j’ai achetai des magazines, des chocolats, et du maquillage. Ce samedi je vais acheter des choses pour le voyage scolaire à Berlin. Je pense que c’est bien de recevoir de l’argent de poche car ainsi j’apprends à gérer mon budget! Quand je reçois des étrennes, je les dépose à la banque pour faire des économies- l’argent est pour l’université. Je voudrais grade les enfants pour gagner plus de l’argent, que je dépensais pour aller en boite et faire les magasins. Si j’étais riche, j’achetais une belle maison à l’Allemagne, et une voiture pour mon grand frère.

Ich und meine freundin wollen diesen september gerne unseren sweet16 zusammen feiern (wir sind auf einer englischen schule, da ist der 16. was besonderes..)

Folgende Probleme:

1. wir werden als eine der ersten 16, also bei (ein bisschen) alcohol müssten wir, bzw unsere eltern die verantwortung übernehmen.

2.wir wissen nicht genau wo wir feiern, aber das ist das kleinste problem.

3. wir wissen nicht wen wir einladen sollen (unser jahrgang hat ca 120 leute), denn wir wollen viele einladen, und unsere engeren freunde sind eigentlich nur mädchen- was langweilig währe. Ausserdem, wenn wir die jungs einladen die wir mögn, dann haben diese wiederum nichts mit unseren freunden zu tun, weil sie andere freundeskreise haben

4. wir haben keine idee was wir als thema, etc machen könnten (beachparty, disco, bowlingcenter mieten, club mieten etc)

Wir sind sehr dankbar für tipps!
