Do you think it is really fair to use the term "free thinker" as a synonym for atheist, or is that a false designation that should only be applied to individuals and not ideologies?

How would you further define fundamentalism within that broader context? And is it possible for someone who has no religion to practice fundamentalist-style thinking?

First, before you guys start crying "where is the liberal outrage over Syria?", let me make something perfectly clear:

I am against going into Syria.

I am as against going into Syria as I was Iraq, Afghanistan and everywhere else we've invaded in the past decade.

I will continue to speak out against war and attend anti-war protests no matter who is president.

And while I'm clearing things up, let me also say that I am against government spying, prosecuting whistleblowers, the police state, and a long laundry list of other things Obama is doing. The difference between you and me is that I have always been against these things, whereas most of you are only against them now that Obama is president.

So my question is, are you actually paying attention to what's going on, or do you just assume that if conservatives are against something (now, because you hate Obama, even though you were for it under Bush), that means liberals automatically love it?

And would you please stop doing that? Thanks.

According to some of the Christians who answered this question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=201303... God doesn't make her/his existence unequivocally known to all because s/he doesn't want to force people to love her/him.

But Satan and the other demons presumably have no doubt that God exists, and yet they were still able to choose rebellion rather than worship. Clearly, knowing God exists did not violate their free will to choose whether or not to love her/him.

So how does this "it violates free will" argument work?

...in the rest of the animal world color variation is extremely common and means nothing at all?

For example, when my cat had kittens, there were three different fur colors in the one litter (two black, one white, and two orange & black striped). If what color you are is so important, why didn't my cats hate each other?

I would like to know how many people here would have voted for the Green, Socialist, Libertarian or other "third-party" candidates if we had a better system where those parties were not marginalized and actually had a fair chance of winning.
