  • How to stop fighting kids?

My son (10yrs.) and my daughter (8yrs.) are constantly fighting. They go out of their way to make each other mad, or get them in trouble or tease. They never stop, they cannot be in the same room with each other for 5 seconds before they start fighting. It is driving my husband and I crazy. It is like they have this underlying hate for each other and it makes me so sad. I do not know why they dislike eacother so much and it is causing so much tension and stress in our home. We have grounded them both for the behavior, they have lost privileges and are on total lock down and "unplugged". Still they go after each other. We have tried talking to them about how to deal with conflict, how to not start it in the first place, treat others how you would like to be treated, be kind, we have practiced coping strategies for conflict, emotions, etc. Neither of them have any problem at school or with other kids, they both have friends and would not even think about treating anyone else the way they treat each other. They are both good kids who are sweet and kind to others. They do not hear us. We are at a loss. Does anyone have any other ideas on how to get them to stop?

  • Help! Science experiment for 3rd graders?

I have volunteered to do a weekly science experinment in my daughters third grade class. I really know nothing about science but I thought it would be fun, and I could learn something as well.

They are studying life science right now, biomes, animal adaptations, etc. Last week I did an experiment where the kids put vegetable fat on one finger and had them put two fingers in ice cold water, the idea was to hypothesize if fat helps animals survive in cold environments. It was great, they all got to participate and they instantly understood the concept. The problem is I cant find anything like that for this week. I want to do something that is hands on for the kids, that I can do in 45 minutes and something where they can see instant results. I have been searching for days and I cant find anything. Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you.

  • Athiests and Agnostics?

I am curious about the difference in your belief systems. I have heard one of you believes in some sort of "source" and the other believes in no source, is that right? Which is which?

Is it that you believe in no source or force or "higher order" or that you reject the traditional religious biblical interpretation?

I have always been curious about it and would be interested in hearing your points of view if your interested and willing to share. Thanks.

  • Do you think?

The goal is to find the way to happiness, or to learn that happiness is the way?

To strive for perfection or to realize and trust that everything is perfect.

  • How can I get my 6 year old daughter to wipe after she goes to the bathroom?

I have tried everything I can think of -- she just refuses to do it, when I go into the bathroom I can see that she hasn't flushed or wiped her bottom. I have tried, rewards, charts, a big sign on the door saying "Don't forget", nothing has worked. I have talked to her about it many, many times, telling her she needs to take care of her body, she just doesn't do it. She says that it takes to much time and she is in a hurry. I have tried following her in the bathroom and watching her to make sure that she does it, but I can't be with her all the time, at school, etc. I am at my wits end!!!! -- at the end of the day she has a terrible odor and her bottom is red and sore. Her brother and the neighborhood kids will even tell her that she smells, but it doesn't seem to bother her. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm desperate!!!! HELP!!!!
