Interests include my dog, (a staff.), cookery, a bit of home improvement/decorating, music, especially from the 50's - 80's and going out for a drink! As I've led a fairly "colourful" life, I've got quite an opinion on lots of things and always open to learn and find out more about anything. That's why I enjoy "Questions".

  • Coalbrookdale Garden Furniture?

A friend of mine is a landscape gardener; and on the job they are on, they have a wrought iron 5 slat, white painted garden bench, which is VERY heavy. VERY heavy. It is certainly wrought iron. It has the appearance of being old. So, on the description he gave me, we have looked it up on the Internet, and it seems possible that it is a Coalbrookdale 'Lily of the Valley' garden bench. We have to wait for a few days to see if it has the 'Coalbrookdale' stamp on the ironwork. If it is an original, any ideas of anything about it? I.e. Is it worth anything? Seen one, of a different pattern, but by the same people, sold at Bonhams, 3 years ago, for over £3000! The people want shot of it; they can have it! I should be so lucky!!!!

  • Name of a John Travolta Film?

It's a film where he plays some sort of 'gangster', dealing in drugs, I think. He is very mistrusting of people, including his wife. The film ends with him killing his wife, I think. Something to do with a pair of diamond earrings. He maybe kills himself, or gets killed at the end. On a bridge? Anyone help me with this? Please.

  • Why my GP has changed my medication?

Due to various mishaps and accidents, including shattered C6th vertibrae when I was 20, disclocated/broken shoulder in 1994, I suffer with arthritus in neck, back, arms and hands and now have sciatica. Since 1994 I took prescribed painkillers which worked. I was and am NOT addicted to them and the dosage has not increased, neither have I purchased them elsewhere since or any other painkillers. 3 months ago, when the sciatica had really taken hold and the pain is unbearable at times, to say the least, my GP has taken me off the medication that worked and prescribed much less! Not only strength, but amount a greater amount of paracetomol - not good for liver! On seeing him today and informing him that this medication really does not work, I was told to go over to the chemist and 'BUY' Nurofen to take with the prescribed medication! I would add that I am in receipt of benefits, thus free prescriptions due to my health! Not through laziness! My medication is codeine based. Can anyone tell me if there is a good and logical reason as to why my GP has done this; is it government health cutbacks or what? I cannot take ibruprofen or diclofenic as I am allergic to them! Same as penicillin!

  • How much, how often and what food to feed a puppy?

I have a 7wk. old saluki/greyhound pup that 1 wk. ago had surgery for a constricted throat - when feeding from her Mum milk went into her stomach but on introducing puppy food she regurgitated it. Needless to say, she was very ill. She pulled through the surgery and had a convalescence support food, like a very thick milkshake for 48hrs., then I was informed that she could have puppy food but it had to be pureed. I can't thank the PDSA enough, or the surgeon that operated on a puppy that weighed under 2kg, but on the 2 subsequent visits, I have been told to give her 45g of food per serving, but one says just blend it, the other said add water so it is runny. If I add water to the 45g, then tThen the size of the portion is too much for her tiny stomach so she brings a good 1/3rd of it up. If I lessen the portion, she is getting much less than the nutritional intake she needs to put on weight and get well. The 45g serving is based on 'foil-pack' wet food trays. I really do need advice on what kind of food, i.e. wet, dry, tinned, foil packed, how much and how often. I really am at my wits end. I was also told that she has to be elevated when feeding; I purchased a raised feeding station and have got blocks under it to make what I think is the right height for her. She is also supposed to be elevated AFTER feeding - like how? One view was to have her sitting or standing on her back legs and have her front ones on either a small stool or on an appropriate rung of a ladder! For 15 - 30 minutes! This is a 7wk. old puppy. I feel that she is getting 'bloated' on watered-down runny food and still hungry but has not room in her stomach for the food that she needs! She urinates with no problems but has not had a 'poo' for 2 days now, and the last one she did have was more than obvious that she was constipated. The surgery itself is/was very high risk - I really did not think she would survive it; let alone come home the same evening. (I did have to return to the PDSA the next morning - 'the she can have puppy food' appointment), but now I have got to the point where I feel she won't survive because no-one has given me the correct and sensible feeding details. It's as if she is starving to death, again, (this is what 'Vascular Ring Anomaly') causes, due to lack of proper information. Please, please, please, can somebody help me.

She is laying on the floor next to my feet at the moment and I know she's hungry, because most of the watered down sludge that she had about 7.p.m. is now on tissues in the bin or being washed off her bedding blankets. I really am desparate.

  • What do you think about sentimental records?

I'm a great sentimentalist when it comes to 'songs' etc., that I can relate to certain 'episodes'? in my life, and today, I found the ones that really put into perspective 2 really important ones! They came on the radio, but were tracks I have already on c.d.'s, They were: 'Reason to Believe' by Rod Stewart. That was the life I had with my husband; the affairs, the beatings..... I made up the reasons to believe that I really was in the wrong, and a nothing. And, today, 'Bruno Mars', 'You're Amazing'. Because that, after alot of time, alot of anitdepressants, and one hell of a lot of belief in me, my partner of 9 years, in April, has had, actually given me my 'self-worth' back.

Do any of you rely on songs, records, whatever, to help you through the bad times? (I really have got ones for 'EVERY' occasion..... expecially when me and the other half have words!!!! Does anyone else do that? And take great delight in playing the 'You have really p....d' me off music to them?

If the other half walks in and 'that c.d' is playing, he has the look of a wounded dog! The 'I really am sorry Mummy that I went out with my mates last night and came back rotten' look....... She laughs out loud! But don't we still love playing it! Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned'???

  • computer hacked into?

I got a 'payday' loan for my daughter via i/net. Within 2 weeks, my bank a/c has been got at - brokers? trying to get fees? Fees for what? Then on Monday, my friends were receiving emails from ME, (MY email address) asking for money to be wired from them to me in Madrid! How did they get my password? I couldn't get into my email account because they had changed it! It took me over 3 1/2 hrs. on phone to BT just to get it cleared and create, (again, this has happened before, but without the 'begging' emails to friends), another password. I need another EMAIL ADDRESS! How do I do this; notify people of this, and how easy it is for these unscrupulous b******s to do this? This last 2 weeks have been a nightmare, to say the least! At this present moment in time, my bank a/c is frozen; thus the 'payday' loan company couldn't withdraw the money, and within 24hrs., I have racked up another £70 in charges from them? Brilliant! Never, ever again will I touch another loan company over the net! Please, if anyone can help, or even suggest advice, I'm up for it, but, please don't tell me what a bloody fool I was to going to one in the first place! Had enough of that from my other half and Dad! Cheers & Thank You.

  • Song in a t.v. advert?

I've heard the song quite a few times. It's the one for the new Vauxhall Corsa, that sort of has a cartoonish sort of graphics, but towards the end of the advert the song sort of goes, "Na Na Na Na Na Na NaNa". If that makes any sense. If so, I would really love to know who the song is by. Thank you.

  • David Beckham - And The "Beard"?

What Is that On His Face!!! Pleeeease? I am not a footie fan in the least, but, just to be sociable to the other half, I've made the effort to watch the footie tonight. OK! Admit, Beckham was worth making out I knew and understood the "Offside Rule" for - HE LOOKED GOOD! What the F**K has gone wrong? It was either "Wolverine" from "Big Brother" that was trying to do a "Beckham" impression, (miserably), or, failing that, it really was "Beckham", wearing the offcuts from my neighbours new carpet stuck to his face!!!! Sorry David, but, in MY opinion, your latest style looks......... words fail me! Why on Earth should a handsome bloke like you try and make yourself look a complete and utter knob! (By the way, that was the comment of my brother; a great admirer of your talent!)

  • Song at the end of CSI:NY?

At the end of the episode of CSI:NY, which aired on British TV on Saturday, 14th February 2009, titled, "Enough", (It was the episode when 3 men were shot dead in separate locations, and the detectives had to look for a link between the trio in the hope that it would lead them to the killers. It was there lawyers who done the dirty deeds!), a song was played which had the words, "All that I've ever known". I wasn't sure of the episode title when I asked the question before, and the suggestion I got, (nice song, all the same), by "Onerepublic", was not the one I am looking for. Now, with a bit more detail to go on, and maybe, just maybe, another avid CSI fan has recorded the episode also, someone may be able to point me in the right direction as to what this song is called, and who it is by. Thanks for previous suggestions, and I'm relieved, and glad to know that I'm not the only CSI nut out there!

  • What can he grow at 11yrs. old, with no garden and a very small balcony?

My friend has a son of 11yrs. old, who has learning difficulties and ADHD. But, he enjoys "gardening". Unfortunately, we live in flats and do not have gardens, just balconies, and at this present moment in time, every conceivable place in her flat is now covered with pots of seeds. Tomatoes, radishes, spring onions, beetroot....... You name it, Tony is trying to grow it, Unfortunately, her flat does not get much sunshine at the time of the day you would need it for growing things. Our main concern is that if Tony keeps planting seeds, watching them germate, and then, everything dies, he will lose his interest in gardening, which would be a negative imput on him. No-one wants that, especially his mother or me. So, if there are any enthusiastic flat-dwelling, indoor or balcony gardeners, that could send any info./timetable/calendar information that I could print out for Tony, so he can actually grow and see to fruition, (no pun intended), i.e. eat his produce, it would be very much appreciated. As a last note, I have a good sense of humour, but I DO NOT want any suggestions of "leaf" plants that he may be able to grow. I am being serious on this matter. Thanks alot. Christine

  • A Song played at the end of CSI?

Not being sure of the title of the episode, all that I know is it was the one where 3 drug dealers were shot by their individual attornies. They were supposed to be going to court; the female witness was not supposed to appear; the dealers found out & cut her face up with a knife. She had 3 brothers who were, at first, thought to have shot the dealers. At the end, a song was playing with the words, "All that I've ever known." Whoever sings it, sounds somewhat like Unkle Bob on the track, "One by One". Has anybody got any idea of what the song is called, and who it is by? Thank you. Christine
