I am writing about a character whose nickname is Burdy. I want to know how to write,

"My mischievous little Burdy!"

My two year-old called me over to the table a little while ago where she was coloring. She said, "Mommy, is this right?" She had written her name in crayon, and it was completely legible. Go ahead and accuse me of bragging because right now I think she's freaking brilliant, I will admit. Anyone else seen this? Is it more normal than I assume? I should say she's on the late side of two.

cheddar cheese and bites off of a whole banana? I'm sitting here having a snack, and my baby is leaning over taking bites of my food. This is my second child, and my first could not have handled it at this age. She's doing fine, but it seems a little weird given her age. Anyone else just give the baby whatever she can handle?

or was it just a catch up episode?

I'm so tired of all of this race stuff. I can see poor Obama jumping in and out of that machine over and over to get a star, take it off, get a star, take it off. He doesn't have a choice in this environment.

the food of the gods? I'm pregnant and have been craving bucket loads of the stuff. I've eaten it in large quantities every day for the past week. Not recommended, pregnant moms, because we all know what cabbage does, but alas, I cannot stop myself.

She's 13 months old, and she has started trying to stand during meals. She's strapped in, but even on the tightest setting, she is still able to wiggle around and stand most of the way up. Today I stopped the meal after warning her to sit down. A few minutes later, she was trying to eat paper. About 30 minutes later, she saw that I had an orange, and she came over pleading for some of it. I picked her up and took her to her chair. She sat for a few bites of orange, then gave the same mischievous, defiant look and stood up again. I told her to sit down in a very gruff voice, but she smiled and stood up more. I took her out of the chair, and she screamed for about 10 minutes sitting on the living room floor.

Any other suggestions? My baby is slight as it is, so I hate stopping the meal, but she has to get this.

for a few seconds to go to the hall closet for a wash cloth. It was the baby's first whole week in a big tub, and the baby had already slipped under twice while supervised. The parent argued that a child cannot drown that fast and that I was overreacting by being very upset about it, and said that babies have a reflex that makes them hold their breath when they go under. What do you think? I have heard that a baby can drown in seconds, not to mention fall and sustain a concussion or get burned.

...if the show is CNN, and the child doesn't really pay it any attention? I was very careful in the first year of her life, and I am not turning on shows for her to watch, but I have spent quite a lot of time watching news shows in this election year. Is my baby still at risk for attention problems from an occasional peek?

if your husband, who has money to burn, neglected to give you a birthday gift year after year? Mine didn't forget my birthday; he acknowledged it, but didn't give me a gift. This is the third year in a row. The thing is, his birthday comes 6 days after mine. He is in a position of power in his work and gets a catered lunch and all sorts of nice perks. I have given him gifts on his birthday, even baked him a cake, but this year I'm upset. He did buy me a vest a few days after my birthday when we were Christmas shopping for family and I saw it at the mall, but he didn't say it was for my birthday or anything, and in my opinion it would have been lame if he had. He bought himself a bunch of things that day, too. I didn't want anything big, but I've never been with a man who wasn't excited to give me a wrapped gift on the right day.

So, what would you do?

Do you care whether a man is circumcised or not? I want answers ONLY from women who have or have had an uncircumcised partner, not women who think it must be "nasty" but have never seen/experienced it.

I am wondering if any uncircumcised men out there wish they had been circumcised at birth, or whether you are fine with the way you are. I'm considering not circumcising my baby if it's a boy, and my husband is appalled. I see no reason to do it, but he insists it's a health issue and a matter of self-esteem. We're American, so responses from Americans would probably be more helpful. Thanks!

My HCG was 148 approximately a day after I should have started my period. I'm arguing with my ob/gyn husband who thinks that's too low.

Anyone had an hcg count that low without worries? You'd think that being married to an ob/gyn would make it easier, but it doesn't. I'm sure he just doesn't want my hopes up too high. We've had a couple miscarriages. Any positive comments, however, would help a lot.
