Dealing with losing money?
Long story short. I bought a couple of tickets for a trip to Europe - about $2K. I didn't make it. The ticket is non-refundable. Right now, I'm unconsolable. At some level, I realize that it's only about 15% of my savings, I have enough to re-book the trip - and I have. But I simply cannot wrap my head around the lost money. I feel I might have well have withdrawn it from the ATM, and set it on fire.
Has anyone else squandered money unwittingly? How do you come to terms with it? Are/were you able to immediately put it behind you, or is there some kind of grieving process involved?
Thanks.

A fairly attractive potential VP...
Sexist remarks, jokes (I'm already seeing VPILF and hearing "Yeap, I'd definitely do her"), photoshopped nude pictures of her on the internet (or maybe real ones if she got a little wild in college); all these will probably inundate our cultural landscape if McCain get elected.
Do you foresee this as being an issue if elected? Or would crude remarks about or VP's attractiveness just become mainstream?
5 AntwortenElectionsvor 1 JahrzehntDating in a small town (30 and above)?
Two years ago, I relocated to small town following the end of my marriage. I stayed to myself for a few months (which I recommend following a separation or divorce), and then a few months ago, started looking into dating again. I "put the word out", went online, started hanging out wherever there was a gathering of people.
Months went by: nada, nothing.
Here are some "vital stats": 38, healthy lifestyle and healthy bank account. Every one I know says I'm above average compared to the average local man my age, and should have no trouble dating. But it just ain't happening.
I'm not interested in a "how-to" guide to small town dating. I will be relocating this winter to a more populated area; so it's too late to change up my technique. What I would like to understand, though, is why the local single women seem to by looking right through me? Fear of the unknown? Being perceived as the "floozy" who's dating the stranger in town? I don't get it; but I would like to understand.
