  • Can an ungrounded 2 prong outlet be on the same circuit as a grounded 3 prong outlet?

My house has old wiring and I would like to update the outlets to 3 prong grounded ones. I have a situation where the wires from the breaker box go along one wall in the basement providing power to 2 outlets in the walls up above, then across the basement ceiling to one light in the basement, then to the opposite wall going to 2 outlets in that wall up above. The first 2 outlets should be easy to switch the wiring by running it right up the holes. The last 2 on the other wall have duct-work in the way. I can see them going up the holes, but can't access them.

My question is if it's a problem only changing the wiring going to the first 2 outlets and leaving the old 2 wire cable going to the light and the other wall?(And leaving them 2 prong or maybe GFCI) Or is this against some electrical code and I have to tear apart the house to make it all 3-wire cable?

Can anyone help me solve this word puzzle?

It's for an Android game called Five Words. You have to put the pieces together so it spells 5 words that are the same across and down. So if the first word across is CRANE then the first word down also has to be CRANE, and so on.

Usually they haven't been this tricky but this one has me stumped. I've been working with words like CRANE, TALES, INANE, INEPT, etc... but so far I can't figure it out.

Whoever posts the solution first gets the points.

  • Traveling with a toddler in the Philippines?

I'll be traveling in to the Philippines from the U.S. this summer with a 2 year old, mainly in and around Manila and Davao. Any suggestions for getting around? Taxi? Bus? Would it be worth while to bring a car seat for a taxi, or will the drivers allow that?

    Thanks

Which someone could easily find if they went looking for one? For example something that a coin collection shop would likely have plenty of? A Canadian $5? A Mexican Banknote? Something else?

  • What are the most common public domain art prints hanging in peoples houses?

I can find plenty of lists of famous paintings and posters, but can't find any lists of the most popular prints that people have hanging on their wall.

I'm mainly looking for images that would be in the public domain(typically meaning originally made prior to 1923 or published by the government) that most people would recognize and many would know someone that has a print of hanging in their home or office...such as Starry Night by Van Gogh.

    Thanks

  • Will a Clinical Social Worker have a Masters Degree in Psychology?

Or, if someone has a Masters degree in Social work, does that degree fall under a Clinical Psychology degree? Or are they just similar but separate fields.

I'm required to go undergo a psychological evaluation as part of the process to adopt and it requires someone with at least a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology; but I am having a hard time finding someone with those exact credentials.

  • Dash lights up and doors lock when brake is pressed?

The car is a 1998 Pontiac Grand Am .

While driving, when the brake pedal was pressed, the cars electronics seemed to restart. The door locks fired, the radio went off for a second, and the dash lights all came on. This only happened once and for just a second when the brake pedal was pressed. The engine never died though and the car seemed to run just fine.

    What could cause this problem?

  • 95 Chrysler Sebring stalling before and after new distributor?

I have a 95 Chrysler Sebring V-6 2.5L that has been stalling on me while driving(never while stopping or idling) and refusing to start unless I let it sit for 15 to 30 minutes. No check engine light. I replaced the fuel filter and had the same problem. Battery and air filter are new. It ended up being no spark. I took it the shop and got a code for bad camshaft sensor(in the distributor). They said they ran diagnostics on the EGR vavle and crankshaft position sensor(common problems with this car) as well as the fuel pump and they checked out. So they replaced the distributor and recomended I get new plugs and wires.

The problem is, the car did the same exact thing 2 days later. So they ran diagnostics again and said the distributor they put on was bad and replaced it with a different manufacturers at no extra cost.

The next day though it stalled at a stop light but started right back up. Hasn't stalled while actually driving though. When I called them back they said that it was becasue of the plugs and wires. I'll try changing them tomorrow but does this sounds reasonable? It never stalled while idling before. Do any car experts out there have any other ideas? I really don't want to keep throwing money at parts and service that may or may not fix the problem.

    Thanks

  • Tach drops to 0 and car coasts for a few seconds then revs back up.?

I have an automatic 95 Sebring. On the way to work today the tachometer dropped to 0 and the car started to coast. The car never died though and the battery light never came on. I pumped the gas pedal and after a few seconds the tach jumped back up and the car ran fine the rest of the way. I checked the transmission fluid and it was ok. Does anyone have any idea why it did that or what the problem might be? Thanks.

  • Hard Drive not seen by windows though seen by the BIOS?

When booting up my PC yesterday it went throught he BIOS screen and then went black with an underscore or minus sign in the top left corner and wouldn't do anything after that. I trued installing the hard drive as a slave but windows doesn't see it. In BIOS setup I still see it though and it sounds like it's spinning. Does any know why this is happening? Why BIOS sees the drive but windows does not? Or how I can transfer my files when windows can't see it?

Also, This isn't a new install. I've been using the drive with no problems for about 6 months now. The drive is a 150Gb western digital and I'm running XP on it.

    Thanks for any help.

  • Does anyone know what this electronics symbol is?

It looks like this but the triangles are filled in.(pretend the .'s aren't there. I had to add them to get everything to line up)

    .|

    .|/

    /|

    .|

It's labled as a resistor on the board and schematic but looks more like a tantalum cap to me. It's in between ground and a deflection coil on a CRT.

    Thanks.

  • What is the stuff Native Americans threw in fires durring ceremonies.?

I don't know if it's something they actually did, but in many movies they show Native Americans throwing a pinch of something into fire to make it flare up, usually from a leather pouch. Does anyone know what the stuff is called or what it's made out of? I've been wondering for some time now.

If it's not something that was real, does anyone know what they used in the movies to get that effect?

    Thanks

  • Will a deleted "Trade-Line" increase a credit score?

I was in the process of trying to pay off an old debt I discovered on my credit report when I was notified that the account had just been sold to a different collection agency. They said that their trade line has been deleted from all credit reports. When I called the new collection agency they said that they weren't aware of the account but it could take 3 weeks for new accounts to be entered in their system.

So my question is, will my credit score be higher for these 3 weeks? And what will show up on my credit report now? I'm not exactly sure what a "trade line" refers to.

    Thanks for any help.
