Does the series [Σ 1->infinity] [(.8)^n-1 - (.3)^n] converge or diverge?
I am not sure where to go with this one.
I tried representing the decimals in terms of fractions, then a few shifts but I can't get anywhere that makes sense to me.
2 AntwortenMathematicsvor 1 JahrzehntDoes the geometric series [1 / (rad(2)^n] converge or diverge?
Do I have to get it into the form ar^n-1?
I've tried expressing the exponents, like 1 / (2^.5)^n but I keep getting stumped.

3 AntwortenMathematicsvor 1 JahrzehntLet: { 70 = 20 + 75e^(-1/50) t } can you solve for t?
t = -50 ln(2/3) = 20.27 is the supposed answer.
What logarithmic techniques are used to reach this solution
When I do it I get, 50/75 = 3/4 = e^(-1/50)t (By subtracting 20, then dividing by 75)
then apply the natural log to both sides, to get t = 14.384.

With all x on one side, all y on the other. (in the fashion ... dx = ... dy
(x^2 + 1) dy/dx = xy
Step by step please.
1 AntwortMathematicsvor 1 JahrzehntShow me the steps of solving a simple Substitution problem, solve for A and B?
I am having difficulty filling in the blanks on how in EXAMPLE 3: on
http://tutorial.math.lamar.edu/Classes/DE/Repeated...
at the point of "Plugging in the initial conditions gives the following system of equations."
Where, A and B are constants.
Where, -1 = y(-4) = Ae^28 - 4Be^28
and 5 = y'(-4) = -7Ae^28 + 29Be^28
to get an answer of A = -9e^-28 and B= -2e^-28
How do I get here? Thanks so much.

6 AntwortenMathematicsvor 1 JahrzehntDetermining volume of CO2 from gasoline in a car?
Octane C8H18 is the primary element of gasoline. A car has a rated mileage of 20 mpg, what volume (L) of CO2 is produced when driven a distance 11.0 miles? Assume a temperature of 25.0 C and an atmospheric pressure of 1 atm and that the car only burns C8H18. The density of octane is 0.703 g/cm3. The volume of 1 mole of CO2 under the conditions is 24.5 liters.
The balanced equation is 2 C8H18 + 25 O2 -> 16 CO2 + 18 H2O. How do I solve this?

2 AntwortenMathematicsvor 1 JahrzehntWhat's the name of that old "Animal Planet" show?
I am having difficultly placing the name of a television show that used to be on the Animal Planet. Here are the things I can recall (very little):
1) It was on early in the morning when I caught it and it didn't seem to be original content, perhaps from the UK.
2) It was a story and featured animal actors. For example there would be a toad, and a white rat and they performed while there was a narrator telling the story and speaking their voices. A show example would be fixing the boat or something.
3) It hasn't been on in a while.

similarly in the case,
2x - x^2 = (3/4).
