Cloth Diapers Won't Absorb? Please Help!?
I am new to cloth diapering, and I am having quite the time getting my new diapers to absorb. I am using pocket diapers with microfleece lining.
When I first received the diapers, they smelled really bad (like a factory.) Even if the diapers wouldn't have smelled, I would have done several washes to prep the diapers. However, since they smelled, I washed them 5 times with Tide Free and Clear. They still had a hint of smell, so I hung them out to dry in the sun and then washed them once more. Once I started using them on my baby, he started getting a rash on his private parts. I stopped using them immediately, and washed them again. However, this time I washed them with Tide Original because I thought the detergent was the problem. I washed the diapers about 3 times (only using soap the first time) because the diapers smelled strongly of Tide (I read that they are supposed to smell like nothing.)
I started using them on my baby once again, and after using just one diaper the exact same rash started to come back. I couldn't figure out what the problem could possibly be. As a last ditch effort, I ran water over an unused diaper. I then realized that the water didn't absorb. Instead, it beaded up on the lining.
I am now stripping the diapers.
As you have read, I have washed the diapers MANY times so I would assume that any oils would have washed off. Many of the diapers have never even been used. What else can I do to make my diapers absorb? Please help!
3 AntwortenNewborn & Babyvor 7 JahrenHelp with prepping a brand new cloth diaper?
I ordered my first cloth diaper, but I only ordered one to see if it fits my baby appropriately (my baby is slender and long.) The diaper that I ordered is made out of synthetic material, and I of course wanted to pre-wash the diaper before putting it on my baby. However, when washing the diaper, I must have read the directions on how to wash a diaper made out of natural material. Due to this, I accidentally washed my diaper twice - both times with no-residue detergent! Will I need to strip my diaper already?
2 AntwortenNewborn & Babyvor 7 JahrenWhat Could Be The Possible Consequences?
I have a younger brother who is in sixth grade and just turned 13. He is like a lot of young boys - goofy, makes stupid jokes, is highly into video games, and movies. He is not violent in any sense of the word and has never hurt anyone in his life, and has made it clear in the past that he wouldn't do it even if he had a chance.
Yesterday after school a janitor found a note on the ground that said, "We are going to kill Mr. ______. Are you in, fool?" Another kid wrote back "Yes." There was potentially a third child that participated in the note. Because of school policy, the note had to be turned in to the principle, and they traced the handwriting of the actual threat to my brother. They asked him who was involved, and he refused to give up the other kid(s), and said that he was the only one who participated in the note.
The note is serious, and my family has been treating it seriously. However, we know without a doubt in our minds that he was joking. It was a terrible, stupid, senseless joke on his part, but a joke nonetheless. He is a young boy in the sixth grade who made a really bad mistake.
My family and I expect and understand consequences to follow from this. The teacher who was threatened in the note has said that he doesn't think that it meant anything, and has said that he isn't worried. My brother has been expelled for 4 days, and further evaluation will occur when he returns.
What COULD the consequences be? Has anyone had a similar experience?
1 AntwortLaw Enforcement & Policevor 7 JahrenFall During Third Trimester?
I was gathering a few things out of my Yukon, and I was standing on the running board. I stepped backwards when I was done to close the door and go inside when my foot got caught in the seat belt. I tried to catch myself, but I couldn't.
I am 33 and a half weeks pregnant, and this is my first fall. It happened rather late at night because I was returning from a long trip. When I fell, I landed directly on my back. My stomach wasn't impacted at all, but it was admittedly kind of a hard fall.
I didn't start bleeding and the baby is extremely active. I haven't been cramping either. Mostly I just feel a little sore. However, I am feeling some minor pains in my stomach around my ribs. I was wondering if this is something to worry about or if the baby is fine because he is moving so much. I planned on calling my doctor in the morning, but I am not sure if it's something that needs to be addressed immediately.
2 AntwortenPregnancyvor 7 JahrenThird Trimester Pain Question?
After entering the third trimester, I have began to experience pains that I have believed to be quite normal. For the most part, there have been only relatively mild aches and pains- most of which have been connected to sciatic nerve pain. However, one night while I was sleeping, I got a leg cramp that woke me up. It hurt quite badly and lasted for a couple of minutes. I thought nothing of the incident considering that I have gotten leg cramps like this from time to time for as long as I can remember. It is easily remedied by consuming some form of potassium. This leg cramp was a little different because even though the cramp itself ended, all throughout the daytime hours that followed, I could feel where the cramp had occurred. It didn't "hurt" necessarily. I could just feel a very, very dull ache at the source of the cramp I had experienced the night before. Once again, I thought nothing of it. The cramp itself took place about two-three days ago, and the pain at the original source has only increased and spread. I have not experienced another cramp, and the pain doesn't resemble a cramp. It feels very similar to how one might feel if they ran an extensive amount (something that I have not done.) It is only taking place in one leg.
I take my prenatal vitamins regularly, and I haven't participated in anything physically demanding. There is no unusual swelling, warmth or redness. Does any one know what this pain might be or if it is something to worry about?
2 AntwortenPregnancyvor 7 JahrenThird Trimester Ultrasound Question?
I am 29 and a half weeks pregnant, and tomorrow I am scheduled to have my second ultrasound. The first ultrasound was the 20 week ultrasound and to have this done, I needed to have a full bladder. My instructions were to drink 5 8oz glasses of water an hour and a half before the appointment and to not go to the bathroom. If you fail to do so, they say you will need to a have a catheter. I followed the instructions perfectly, but it was so uncomfortable and painful because I am not used to holding that much urine for that long!
With this second ultrasound that I am having tomorrow, I was given the exact same instructions and I plan on following through with them because I definitely want to avoid a catheter. However, I was wondering why needing to drink this much water is necessary. I know it's going to be even harder for me tomorrow because I am much farther a long, and baby loves to roll around on my bladder. I don't think that the technology my hospital uses is outdated because they can do 3D and 4D ultrasound scans.
5 AntwortenPregnancyvor 7 JahrenPlease Help with Baby Name?
I never knew how hard it would be to pick out a baby name until I actually became pregnant. The idea of naming a baby sounds like it would be so much fun choosing and looking at different options until you find the one that stands out to you. It hasn't gone that smoothly for me.
I am having a baby boy, and I have looked high and low for a name that is perfect for my baby. Through all the different names, there has been one that I just can't seem to let go of. I guess you could say that it stands out to me (at least more so than the rest.) I was wondering if anyone out there could think of problems with this name. I was also wondering if anyone could picture this name for an teenager/adult when he gets older.
The name I am considering is Milo.
5 AntwortenBaby Namesvor 7 JahrenWhere Can I Find Maternity Clothes Similar in Style to Forever 21?
Prior to getting pregnant, I only shopped at Forever 21 it seems like. Not just because they are affordable (though an added bonus), but because they are exactly my style. I have been searching the internet far and wide for maternity clothes that are at least semi-attractive that don't totally break my budget. All the maternity clothes that I find are very expensive and extremely hideous. Please help. :(
1 AntwortPregnancyvor 7 JahrenDoes Plus Sized Clothing Work For Pregnancy?
I am going on a trip to the coast while I am pregnant (I will be in my third trimester, but it has already been approved by the doctor), and I was primarily wishing to buy sundresses because I think they would be the most comfortable on long car rides and for warm weather. I can technically afford maternity dresses, but I'd rather not pay $40+ on average for a dress I will only be able to wear a couple of times. Especially when I want to buy a lot of dresses. I was wondering if there are any pregnant women out there have opted to buy plus sized clothing rather than buying clothing labeled as maternity clothing. I am a very average size, not petite but nowhere near approaching plus sizes anywhere besides my growing belly, and I have a rather average sized chest as well.
2 AntwortenPregnancyvor 7 JahrenHelp With Medicaid Question?
I am pregnant, and I signed up and was approved from Medicaid coverage. I made this decision based on the fact that my job doesn't have health insurance and there wasn't a way that I could pay the pregnancy medical bills without being in debt for a couple of years.
I signed up towards the beginning of January this year, and wasn't accepted until the beginning of March. I waited for awhile to hear back from Medicaid, but I finally had to go to the doctor at the end of January to ensure that I was having a healthy baby. Essentially, I ended up having to go to the doctor three times before I was finally accepted. These three appointments resulted in various, highly expensive bills (ultrasound, blood tests, regular doctor appointments, and etc.)
As soon as I was officially accepted to Medicaid, I called a representative and asked if the previous three doctor appointments would be covered by the insurance. She told me that any appointment that was covered by Medicaid (all of them) that occurred after January 1, 2014 would be payed for.
My question is how to do I make sure that these three appointments are payed for? Do I have to submit the records to Medicaid somehow? Does it happen automatically? Do the doctors submit the records once I give them my insurance card? I will call to make sure, but I was kind of interested in knowing what to expect beforehand or if anyone has had personally experience with this themselves.

8 AntwortenBaby Namesvor 7 JahrenI Have Terrible Morning Sickness. Please Help!?
I just found I was 5 weeks pregnant a couple of days ago (hooray!), but I have been having terrible morning sickness for about two weeks. Until I found out I was pregnant, I thought I was just a little sick.
Over the last two weeks, I've only been able to eat soup, plain chips, peanuts, and fries (begrudgingly) from McDonald's. However, I've ate so much of the foods previously listed that now I can't eat them either. I am starrrrving, and I know my inability to eat is bad for both my baby and me.
What are some things I should try eating that have worked for others in my situation?
1 AntwortPregnancyvor 8 JahrenDo You Think I Could Be Pregnant?
I have been trying with my significant other for 6 months now, and for all those who are or were in the same situation know that this can be such a frustrating process! In all honesty, it leaves more questions than it answers. At the beginning of this month, I started wondering about the whole thing and whether or not I wanted to try anymore. Despite this, my boyfriend and I continued to have unprotected sex--one time in which was in a hotel in a different town on what I discovered was my most fertile day of the month (based on rough calculations.)
Since then, I have been experiencing a few suspicious symptoms. My breasts typically get a little sore before my period, but this month the pain began in the middle of the month, and the pain was very strong and sensitive. They have also grown noticeably larger--not just to me, but to others too. Lastly, not only are they still incredibly sore, they have become more veiny. You can even see some clearly through my nipples. I'm not absolutely sure if my nipples are darker.
A few days before my period was due, I started suffering from nausea which soon led to throwing up. Throwing up made me feel instantly better for awhile, and then I would experience some light nausea into the next day. The day after that, I had some nausea which too led to throwing up, and the cycle has repeated a couple of times. I don't feel sick. I never had a temperature. Just routine throwing up that occurs around 2:30-3:30 pm.One time, I was feeling the nausea during the night, and I just couldn't go to sleep because of this awful smell. I soon realized that smell was coming from a package of gummy worms in the nightstand by where I sleep. I clipped the package closed and then closed the drawer. Then I was finally able to sleep. Earlier today, I was giving my two younger siblings to school, and my sister had her cheer leading shoes in my car, but it was awful.
Oh, and I'm 5 days late. I'm waiting until after a week to test.
1 AntwortPregnancyvor 8 JahrenCould I Possibly Be Pregnant?
I have a few questions about the chances of being pregnant.
I have very regular periods, and last month my period was about a week late for whatever reason but I am not pregnant. During the 7 days that my period did not occur, my boyfriend and I had regular sex in which he ejaculated inside of me.
My period finally happened, and it was very normal. It lasted as long as it normal does, etc. When it was over, my boyfriend and I resumed regular sex in which he would ejaculate inside of me. About a week after my period ended, I experienced very, very light bleeding that lasted the night. The day before that, I experienced some period-like cramps (which I thought was very unusual.)
Just because my period was so late last month, I have no idea when I am going to ovulate and when to expect my period. So I have no idea if I am or could be pregnant. :/
1 AntwortTrying to Conceivevor 8 JahrenCould I Possibly Be Pregnant?
I would like to start this off by saying that I have been avidly trying to conceive for the last four months with each month leading to unsuccessful results. Through this process I have been left with more questions than answers and even doubts in my own fertility. I am 19 years old (however I'd rather not make this about my age for I am more than able) and of good health. Because of my desire to become pregnant, I fear that my opinions on my symptoms are extremely biased thus leading me to this site where I can get a second opinion from someone disconnected from my situation. So, here is my story.
All of my life my period has been extremely regular- to the point where I would know the exact day and even the time of day in which it would occur. Prior to trying to get pregnant, I was never surprised by the arrival of my monthly friend. The last three months that I have been trying, I had three "late" periods. I later understood that my cycle switched from a 28 day cycle to a 30 day cycle. So, in reality, I have never had a late period. This month I calculated two dates for my expected period-- one for a 28 day cycle (just in case) and one for a 30 day cycle. The date for the 30 day cycle in which I expected my period was August 27, 2013, and it is now currently August 31, 2013.
My period is 5 days late. In fact, this is the day in which my period should have ENDED.
I definitely had sex on all of my 'fertile' days. As far as symptoms are concerned, I have had an unbelievably sore chest (much more sore than I have experienced), a slight increase in breast size, I am fatigued, I am having EXTREME mood swings, dizziness (especially in the shower), backaches and light cramping, a late period, and just a feeling that maybe this month could be the month.
It all sounds hopeful, but so far I have taken 3 pregnancy tests: one 5 days before my expected period (way too early), one a day before my expected period, and one 2 days after my expected period. All of which came back negative. I understand that home pregnancy tests are highly accurate, but I have also read countless stories on other forums where women didn't get a result until nearly a week after there missed periods and sometimes even later than that. Plus, as I said, I just have a feeling.
Opinions?
3 AntwortenTrying to Conceivevor 8 JahrenCould I be Pregnant Given My Situation?
I had sex on two of my highest ovulation days this month, and it felt like after about two weeks that I was starting to experience symptoms commonly associated with pregnancy. For example, my chest was tender, I felt fatigued, for the first time in my life I got heartburn two days in a row, and I got unusually bad headaches. Ever since I can remember, my period has been extremely normal and predictable. It always occurs on an even day of the month, and first thing in morning. On the first day of my period, I get extreme cramps, and then it stops after the first day. There has NEVER been a different scenario. This month I was expecting my period on June 28, and I went the entire day without starting my period. Late on June 27, I started to feel light cramping as if I would start my period the next day normally. The entire day of the 28 was filled with light cramping and a strange feeling in my stomach overall. But, as I said, no period and I have never experienced cramping on any day other than the first day of my period. Around 11:00 on June 29, I may have started my period. The blood was strangely brown in color, and my flow has been very light. Considering that my period was late, the color, and the flow, do you think that there's a chance that I could be pregnant? If I get enough assurance that I could be pregnant, I will buy a test, but I would just rather not waste the money on a negative.
