Well I use my computer (laptop) on my lap. Not as a rule but occasionally.. and when I do at night (on the bed) it's for a fairly extended period. Bottom line, is it a health hazard. Is the danger of Cancer etc. prevalent? I'm not oblivious to the possible danger however, I've heard in the past of the fact that it's not safe. But surely modern manufacturers have those disadvantages in mind when they design products for lay consumers today? Is the danger still there or is that hazard obsolete? Or is it present but in small amounts however. (my mother keeps telling methat I might burn my crotch. + testicular cancer?? I keep telling her those ideologies are outdated.. but her taunts haave cause enough concern lately.. so much that I decided to put this question up.) Any solution is thoroughly appreciated. And thanks for reading!

Would it be considered even remotely belittling if employed in an academic atmosphere (eg. University?) - For instance between post graduate and professor in but a laid back setting? Well I'm not into living life dangerously, but besides knowing that even academic superiors are not of otherworldly origin, I don't want to have offended these overlords thus wrecking the health of my immediate scholarly pursuits.

I looked everywhere but only found info on how Ielts validity has changed from 2 to 3 years now. Not one site addressed let alone explained why an Ielts result expires every 2 let alone 3 years. Why? Do you know why? Once I have showed staunch evidence of my competence, Why does that have to be renewed, so to speak? It's common sense that I can't just "forget" my skills?

A little background, I need Ielts for a postgraduate course, to gain admission to a Uni in the UK. I have an Ielts score from 10 years ago (7.5) which solves all my problems for this course! Well it's not "high" (I performed shamefully in that). (I need a minimum of 6.5.) Do it again? Yeah easier said than done.. I fell into a trauma after my last Ielts and can't even write fast. I was unrivaled in my writing speed, before the trauma, but now a 2 year old can probably write faster than me. I have recovered enough to the point where I can write neatly enough if I were to write very (very) slow but the moment I try to speed my writing I lose control and everything goes haywire horrible and illegible. I feel miserable because given my skills in the language, if I had retained my writing speed I could have performed exceptionally well, to score a 9.0, contrary- my feelings aside, why in the World does an Ielts score have a life at all? You're doing me a huge favour, thank you (I could even win a scholarship with a good Ielts score.. if I had access to a computer keyboard/pc at least, for I can type in as fast as I can think. Why????? my deepest gratitude to you for this age old question of mine

i'm a post paraplegic. i retain my intellectual stance but only lack enough dexterity that allows me to write "fast enough". I'm ambidextrous and could write like the wind before a severe car crash trauma but now i cant write swift as well as my writing truly does justice to poor ugly duckling. will i be allowed to use a word processor (without dictionary etc.) if I requested for it? because I can still "type" super fast.

but if that was not allowed and if I had to write by all means, will I be allowed extra time if I requested? and if yes, what is the grace period?

and say I was given a grace period, will I be marked down for ugly (but readable of course) writing?

i just learnt the difference between novels and novellas but i wont get a straight picture unless I see an authentic instance of a Novella.. i can distinguish then because novels are commonplace
