  • Horrible rattling grinding noise around 3,000 RPM?

I have a 1999.5 Mk4 VW Golf 2.0L GLS, 5-SPD manual trans.(152,000 miles on it) My car makes a horrible rattling / grinding noise right around 3,000 RPM's. It gets slightly better when the clutch pedal is pushed in; however, you can still hear the noise. I was wondering if anyone had any idea on what this could be or how I could fix it

  • Yahoo! Answers is WRONG?

This morning I logged on and I had 372pts. today I received 1- emails saying that I had received the best answer. every best answer gives you ten points 10 x 10 = 100 right? so 372 should equall 472. then why when I logged on did it say i had only gotten 51 pts? and whats with that extra one point. The best answers have been added to my status thing. However I only had 431 pts. I haven't done anything to loose points today. Why doesn't any of this make sense?

  • Engine Problems? Possibly Clutch?

So I have a VW Golf 1999 (Mk4) (5SPD manual) it has about 152,000 miles on it, and when I'm driving in the rain I sometime get a high pitched squealing noise and I get a total loss of power to the wheels my engine is still running and I believe the RPM's jump up during this time. I think this might be either the clutch slipping or the throw out bearing, which one is it, and do I have to replace both? Is it hard to do by myself? Any tips and tricks would also be appreciated.. thanks

  • Serpentine Belt Replace. What do I need to know?

I have a 99 VW Golf GLS, 4 cylinder, 2.0L. I pulled the routing chart off of the internet. What happened was that the belt slipped off of all the components. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how this could have happened? (bad installation, looseness, etc.) Before this happened. When I was driving in the rain, sometimes I heard a really high pitched sound like rubber slipping, and I had a sudden loss of power to the cars wheels, that’s when I first suspected that the cars belt was loose (could that be involved). I was also wondering if anyone had any tips and tricks for me before I install the new belt? Anyway anything will help thanks.

  • 5 DTC's on 98 Ford Contour.Will these repairs help?

OK so my friend has a 98 Ford Contour sport, it has a V6. The check engine light was on and I have a code reader so I decided to check it for her. The codes I got were P0420, P0303, P0305, P0171, P0174. Now P0420 is the catalytic converter. So I believe for that one, I can replace the oxygen sensor behind the catalytic converter and see what happens from there. for P0303 and P0305 I was thinking replace the spark plugs. and for P0171 and P0174, which are the engine running lean in both bank 1 and bank 2, I was thinking to replace the fuel filter. These are all descently cheap repairs. What I was wondering is will my repairs fix those problems?
