  • Why is it that parents are so quick to take their child to the ER for the smallest thing?

I've recently noticed that different people I know take their kids to the ER for the smallest thing. Here are a few examples:

    1. A Facebook friend took her 3-year-old daughter to the ER for 100 degree temp. It took over 7 hours at the ER. The doctor told the mother to give her motrin, plenty of fluids and rest. This is the same thing her pediatrician would have told her over the phone, had she called and not just automatically taken her to the ER.

    2. Another person I know took their daughter to the ER because she had the runs. The girl was 2. She was eating fine, but just had loose bowel movements for less than 24 hours before she was taken to the ER. The doctor told the parents to do a brat diet (bananas, rice, apples and toast) and to give the girl plenty of fluids. This is something that could have been figured out without tying up an ER.

When I was a kid, my parents didn't run me to the ER every time I got a fever. What's going on these days?

If you are answering a question that annoys you a little, do you look at the other activity of the person asking? Do you do a little investigating work?

  • How long can you keep spaghetti sauce in the fridge?

I don't go through a whole jar every week. I normally use one jar for 2-3 weeks. I haven't noticed any bad smell or taste. How long is it safe to keep spaghetti sauce? There is nothing written on the jar about storage, except for "refrigerate after opening".

  • How long can you keep homemade iced tea in the fridge?

I make my own iced tea. I make it in a plastic Rubbermade drink container. I use hot water, tea bags and a couple of scoops of sugar in the raw. After the tea darkens, I remove the tea bags and place it in the fridge. Usually I go through it in 3 days, but sometimes I keep it for longer than that. W

What is the maximum that you would keep this in your fridge for use?

  • Why would a woman knowingly put her unborn child AND herself at risk by having a C-section for no reason?

I am wondering why a woman would want to put herself and a baby at risk to have a C-section if there is no medical reason. It has been proven statistically that this is more risky for the baby and the woman. It is worth the risk if there's a medical reason, but why would someone choose this?
