I already have a boyfriend and am not interested in starting an online relationship. Yes, I give obtuse and meaningless answers to troll's questions. I will often answer with the brutal truth. If that's not what you want, then you probably shouldn't ask the question. For all the young women just beginning life.....A woman would be much better off if she could determine the difference between a man that flatters her & a man that compliments her...a man that spends money on her & a man that invests in her...a man that views her as property & a man that views her properly...a man that lusts after her & a man that loves her...a man that believes he is Gods gift to women & a man that REMEMBERS a woman was God's gift to man....So choose WISELY!

  • For army, correct spelling, Alfa or Alpha?

    I have seen where the navy radio people officially spell it as ALFA. But I've also seen many people spell it the way the greeks spelled it, ALPHA.

    In the army, if you want to refer to the first two companies, the second would be BRAVO. But would the first be ALFA or ALPHA?

  • what percentage of msrp should I expect to pay for last year's car model?

    I was at the dealer earlier this week and saw a car that I'm interested in getting. It's a 2013 that's been sitting on their lot for, I'm guessing, more than a year. They've already got a sign in the window showing about a 10% cut off the original msrp, which still has it slightly out of my price range.

    I'm hoping they'd be willing to go 20% off considering it's already spent at least a year sitting out in the weather and the moment I drive it off the lot, it's already a two year old model (the 2015 are already showing up).

    Would going in expecting 20% off of msrp be reasonable? Should I expect even more off? Or would they end up just laughing at me for wanting even more than the 10% they've already given?

  • Which was more of a whopper?

    Which quote ranks higher than the others?

    A. Read my lips, 'No new taxes.'

    B. I didn't have sexual relations with that woman, Ms. Lewinski.

    C. If you like your plan, you can keep it?

    Personally, I think A was really misquoted as people confused the homonyms and the quote is really, "Read my lips, 'know new taxes'."

  • gift idea for partents of special needs?

    Someone I know is raising three children with Down's Syndrome (one natural and two adopted). I would like to get them something useful for a Christmas gift. They live out of state, so I haven't really gotten a chance to be exposed to what sorts of things might be useful for them in raising their special needs children (particularly when there's three of them). My budget is $500-700.

    Can someone please give me some ideas (particularly if you are raising children with Down's Syndrome or know someone who is).

  • controlling when random numbers are recalculated in excel?

    I have an Excel 2003 workbook with approximately 80,000 random numbers. Each of those has about 10 more cells that are depend upon the random number. So every time I make any change to anything, excel recalculates 800,000 cells. It takes about a minute to complete a recalculate.

    Is there an option somewhere that would restrict when random numbers get redone without interfering with other recalculations?

    The only thing I've seen so far is to to put a conditional around the rand function (e.g. =if($A$1,rand(),B1) so that random numbers only take effect when cell A1 is true. Unfortunately, this method wouldn't really work for what I am trying to do.

  • Multiple images presented as a single image with html?

    I have a webpage that is presenting multiple images stuck together that appear as a single image (currently, in a table with no borders or gaps between the images). The images come from different sites and change somewhat regularly (I don't have any control over them). I would like the viewers of my site to be able to right click on the image and save it as a single image.

    Some additional details/caveats... I'm generating the html from php. Some of the images come from sites that require username/passwords and the user will have to already have logged into those sites so that they're able to view the images. I don't want the users to have to provide me with their username&passwords (they probably don't either), so I don't think having php do the stitching is an option.

    As an extra bonus, I'd like the default filename to be generated from my php, so if there's a way to set that, that'd be great.

    Thanks.

  • side by side scroll region in html?

    I am trying to set up a webpage that has a long list (in table form) on the left hand side of the page and on the right hand side are buttons and stuff that will effect items in that list. I would like the list to be scrollable, but for the buttons and stuff to be stationery.

    In its simplest form, so far I have this

    <div style="height:100%; width:80%; overflow:auto;" valign="top">

    <table> <tbody>

    <tr><td>howdies</td></tr> <tr><td>howdies</td></tr> <tr><td>howdies</td></tr> <tr><td>howdies</td></tr>

    <tr><td>howdies</td></tr> <tr><td>howdies</td></tr> <tr><td>howdies</td></tr> <tr><td>howdies</td></tr>

    (repeated enough times to be longer than the height of the browser window - to force scrollbar)

    <tr><td>howdies</td></tr> <tr><td>howdies</td></tr> <tr><td>howdies</td></tr> <tr><td>howdies</td></tr>

    <tr><td>howdies</td></tr> <tr><td>howdies</td></tr> <tr><td>howdies</td></tr> <tr><td>howdies</td></tr>

    </tbody> </table>

    </div>

    <span width="auto">right side</span>

    This has the table scrollable, but I can't seem to figure out how to get the right side to be on the righthand side without the line break after the <div>.

    I have tried setting the style for <div> to be inline, but that ended up disabling the scrolling. I tried putting it all in one table, but again, that disabled the scrolling part.

    I could put all of this into an iframe, but because the stuff on the right side is going to effect the stuff in the table, I can see that the iframe route is going to be yucky (going up and down levels in the javascript stuff).

    Is there something I'm missing or have overlooked? I can't seem to find a solution for how to do this.

    My primary target is for Firefox, but I'd prefer a solution that would work on any browser.

    Thanks.

  • Lemon law cost reimbursement?

    I bought an mp3 player from Best Buy along with their extended warranty protection thing. I have already had to replace it four times in the past six months. If it breaks again, I am tempted to just demand my money back instead of going through an ongoing process of replacing it (it takes like an hour to go down there and wait in the various lines to exchange it). As I understand, lemon laws apply to consumer goods just as they do to cars, so I'm pretty sure this would be covered.

    What I'm not sure about is the extra money I spent on the extended warranty (which ended up being about 30% of the purchase price).

    When you return something for a refund under lemon laws, do they have to refund the other things like extended warranties and stuff? Or do they only have to refund the purchase price on the item itself?

  • costume for comic con?

    My boyfriend and I are going to comic con next month. To keep it from turning boring after the first hour or two, I told him that we'd be going in costume this year. So, now the question is what costume to use. I know how to use a sewing machine, so I don't have any problem making my own costume.

    Everyone tells me I should just go as Wonder Woman, but I'm going to guess that there'd be at least two dozen other Wonder Women there. I would like to go as someone no one else is going to be dressed up as. What I was thinking was going as the Scarlet Witch and my boyfriend would be Quicksilver. But he doesn't want to put anything in his hair (Quicksilver has silver hair).

    He said something like Black Widow and Daredevil would work. But Black Widows costume is so generic.

    Does anyone have any suggestions for what would be cool to dress up as? The rules are the guy and girl need to be a pair and the costume can't be too outlandish and he wont dress up as anything that makes him look silly. And nothing that's going to have lots of others dressed the same (so no Princess Leah slave girl costumes).

  • Firefox back button erasing text?

    I am using Firefox 4.0.1 running on Windows 7x64.

    Whenever I'm on a webpage and click the submit button and then need to go back (using the back button), any text I had typed always gets cleared. Is there an option with Firefox to have it remember what was typed? I sometimes do a control-C to copy stuff so I can repaste it. But it seems like whenever I forget to and have a lot of stuff typed is when the subsequent page gets an error and I need to go back (e.g. long answers typed on Y!A seems to trigger it a bunch).

  • Help trying to post comment to blogspot?

    I am trying to post a comment to a blog that's hosted by blogspot.com.

    I was able to post comments using an AOL account through openID. Then it stopped working. I created an account with livejournal.

    When I attempt to post a comment, I put in my livejournal account name and click the 'preview' button. It doesn't ask for a password (I'm still logged into livejournal in another tab), but almost immediately comes back and says "Your OpenID credentials could not be verified." even though I have livejournal selected as 'comment as'.

    I'm using Firefox 4.0 and Windows 7x64 if that means anything.

  • trying to read an html file into visual c++ with username & password?

    I am trying to read the html contents of a web page into my program (using visual c++). Normally what I do is something like...

    CString inputLine;

    CInternetSession intSess;

    CStdioFile *myInFile = intSess.OpenURL("http://www.xyz.com/%22);

    while(myInFile->ReadString(inputLine) {

    // process each line of the html file that is read into inputLine

    }

    myInFile->Close();

    that works okay. But, now what I want to do is access something where I have a username and password. For instance, lets say I want to read the contents of http://answers.yahoo.com/my-activity with my program. That page provides different html code based on your yahoo username & password.

    I found CHttpConnect which looks like I can specify a username and password. I tried calling that between constructing the CInternetSession and doing the OpenURL. With it looking like

    CHttpConnect myHttp = intSess.GetHttpConnection("www.yahoo.com", 80, "username@yahoo.com", "password");

    But that didn't seem to work. I suspect I might need to use the CHttpConnect method OpenRequest, but I can't make heads or tails out of what any of the parameters mean. Can someone who's more knowledgeable about internet programming please provide a snippet of code that does the same thing as my little snippet except works with usernames and passwords?

    [as a side question, do these usernames and passwords get encrypted or do they go out on the net as clear text?]

  • How do I add text to an existing pdf file using php?

    I have a pdf file that someone else created. It's not copy protected or privileged or anything like that (it's actually a government form). I want to set up a web page where I get info from the user and based on that info, I add various text fields to the pdf file. The pdf file is two pages and all the text I'll be adding will be to the first page.

    I've looked at the pdf file and it's not decipherable by human eyes. I've used acrobat to add typewriter text but the stuff it added to the file is also not decipherable by human eyes.

    Is there an existing library (or something) that will allow me to open up an existing pdf file (on my webserver), add displayable text to it, then push the resulting pdf file to the user?

  • visual c++ branching and optimization question?

    I have a couple of questions regarding optimization of c++ code for visual c++ (2010) for intel platform having to do with IF's and branches.

    If I have the statement

    int x = (someBooleanCondition) ? 1 : 0;

    Does the compiler/intel make use of a conditional load instruction or does it do a series of branches to make the correct assignment? I know branches are inefficient and I've done work on DSPs that have a conditional load instruction to help avoid them, but I don't know if the pentium or visual c++ have/use them.

    The next question is if I have something like

    if(someBooleanCondition) {

    // code that is not normally run. maybe <1% of the time this condition is true

    }

    What is the optimum way to structure this so that 99+ % of the time it will not do any branches. Essentially, I'd want it to test the condition, then branch if the condition is true to some other place in the code, then branch back after those statements are executed.

    Will it only do that if I have a procedure call? Sometimes I'd like to have access to local variables in there and don't want to go through the hassle of putting in the overhead for a procedure call.

  • How can I read a website's html code into a javascript string on my computer?

    I have an html file on my local computer with javascript code inside it. I would like to have my javascript do some processing on information retrieved from a different web page (i.e. a page that's read in from out on the internet).

    I have tried creating a frame on my page that links to the other site and accessing that frame's .innerHTML but that triggers a privilege violation error. I've tried using XMLHttpRequest, but that never comes back with a successful status (getting 0 instead of 200 or 304). I have tried using an iframe and reading its innerHTML, but when I do that I only get the html code that's used if the browser doesn't support iframes.

    Does anyone know a way to do this? Is there a way I can set the privilege with Firefox to allow it to get the other frame's html code?

  • Question about naval rank, ship size and autonomy?

    I am writing a short little story about someone who is in the navy and have a couple of questions to make the story more authentic and was hoping someone could help me with some of them.

    It's a story about a guy who's fresh out of college/rotc and is going out on his first shipboard duty. So, my first question is if guys going through rotc normally do ship duties while still in college or is it reasonable that this could be his first time to be deployed on a ship? Also, are they called ships or boats and is there a distinction?

    After finishing rotc, would he be an ensign? Are there different classes of ensign?

    If they graduate from college in May, would it be normal that they could be sent out on a ship right away (i.e. June) or do they still have to do more officer training stuff?

    I want to put him on a boat with 40 to 50 other people on board and for it to not really be a battle/war ship. What I was kind of thinking was something along the lines of an intelligence/surveillance ship. The idea is that it goes out into the ocean and pretty much just sails around and normally doesn't come into contact with other ships. I also want the ship to have enough autonomy that a decision to move 50 miles south (or something like that) could be made by the captain and he doesn't need to clear it with other ships or a chain of command. Not like he's part of a battle group where he has to stick to some sort of formation or need to provide a perimeter defense/warning for other ships.

    Do ship captains have that sort of flexibility? Is a surveillance ship the most suitable ship for such a role?

    Next group of questions are regarding the make up of the ship's crew. If there are 50 crewmembers, how many of them would be enlisted personnel? How many officers would there be and what ranks would they be?

    And finally, regarding titles. The head honcho guy is called the captain while the second in command is the executive officer (that part I know). I have heard the executive officer referred to as the XO or Ex-O. But, I'm not sure how to write that. For instance, if I wanted to write "The Captain got on the radio and called for the XO to come to the bridge", is that the correct way to refer to the XO? Or is it ExO? ExOh? I know this may sound trivial, but the last thing I want to do is come off sounding like a total noob.

    Thanks for any info you can give me on this.

  • US versus UK English spelling question?

    There are a bunch of words that are spelled differently in the US than they are in the UK. For example, color vs. colour, theater vs. theatre, realize vs. realise, modeling vs. modelling.

    Which convention do other English speaking countries (Canada, Australia, South Africa) follow? And are they pretty much exclusively one way or do some of them use a mish mash of both variants? What about in other parts of Europe where English is a 2nd language, which convention do they typically follow?

    Also, does anyone know a website that has a comprehensive list of words that are different between the two? (by this I mean different spellings of the same words, not too much interested in where different words are used for the same thing as in Lift vs. Elevator).

    Thanks for any help/assistance you can provide on this.
