Can you generally submit a short story AND collection of poems to literary magazines?
Typically the instructions say something to the effect of "one story or up to five poems" or "you may submit only one story but poetry submissions may include up to three poems". They all seem to say the same thing in different words but it's so ambiguous....
1 AntwortOther - Arts & Humanitiesvor 3 Jahrenwhat dual sport motorcycle is right for me?
Alright so I'm in the beta stage of learning about motorcycles--always wanted one and now I'm in the It's Gonna Happen mode (first MTC class underway! :) ). I want to be able to road trip and freely explore dirt backroads and such (which I do fairly often already...but for obvious reasons it's starting to take a toll on my 2 wheel drive sedan :P ), but I don't want something that's just going to sit around for weekend trips. I want to be able to use this thing to commute to work--which unfortunately at the moment involves a roughly 40 mile drive, most of which is on the highway and includes a long stretch that winds around a mountain. (I know I know, great expectations. Get ready for one more.)
Being a woman of average height (roughly 5'5), I'm also going to want to be able to touch the ground. I tried a 31.9 inch bike and can comfortably touch the ground but couldn't go much higher (the Yamaha XT250--which unfortunately won't be great for the highway). Would prefer to not use a lowering kit, switch out the shocks, or have a pro cut the seat down.
so requirements:
- dual sport
- can handle itself on the freeway for a long period of time
- roughly 31.9 inch max seat height
suggestions?

Are they referring to expenses that were NOT reimbursed by my employer? This is so vague....I had to travel for a meeting, paid out of pocket, but was later reimbursed by my employers.

I'm looking into getting a new daypack because I want something less conspicuous than my backpacking pack to load up with weights to train with both around town and on dayhikes. So when browsing outdoor gear websites (e.g. REI's outlet, where I can't see the products in-store first), are there any good ways to tell if a hip belt is designed for load bearing?
1 AntwortOther - Outdoor Recreationvor 5 JahrenFirst time fishing FAQs?
Hi all---I'm going fishing at a lake for the first time (they stock trout, bass, and bluegills; I don't think we're going to rent a boat so we'll be on the side of the lake) and I have some questions...mainly along the lines of "What the hell do I do if I catch something?"
More specifically:
1. Okay so I've hooked the fish and reeled it in, do I kill it right away or put it in a water-filled bucket?
2. I want to try ike jime (i.e. jamming a screwdriver into the fish's brain.....to be humane), any tips?
3. What do I do after I kill it? Should I bleed and/or gut it right out on the lake or put it on ice? Will fish still come to that spot if we bleed/clean it there or should we move to a different spot for cleaning?
4. How do you gut it? (I don't need to fillet it, we'll probably just grill them whole but I think we still need to take out some of the gunk yes?)
Thanks!

2 AntwortenEarth Sciences & Geologyvor 5 Jahrencan sports medicine physicians not be....physicians?
I received my referral to see a sports doctor for this undiagnosed painful popping in my ribcage, but I noticed that the clinic I was referred to doesn't have any MDs even though they say they practice sports medicine...my new doctor said he wanted me to see a sports doctor as opposed to a physical therapist because the sports doctor should be an "actual doctor vs a therapist", and I confirmed on wiki that "Sport and exercise medicine doctors are specialist physicians who have completed medical school, appropriate residency training and then specialize further in sports medicine or 'sports and exercise medicine' (the preferred term)."---that means they should have an MD or a MO right...? The director of the clinic I was referred to has a PT, SCS, and ATC (not sure what the latter two are but I feel like if they're listed after PT then they're less medically valuable and not on par with a MD)................am I missing something? I just turned 26 so I'm new to Medi-Cal and I'm not sure if I should push my weight around to get them to give me a different referral to see an actual sports doctor as I was told I'd be seeing...........how can a clinic claiming to practice sports medicine not have a MD/MO??
3 AntwortenOther - Healthvor 5 JahrenHow can I find out what this drive is?
In continuing my quest to try to figure out what's slowing down my new pc, I went to the disc defragmenter (now apparently called Optimized Drives, don't I feel old :P ) and there's a weird drive I don't recognize and didn't show up when I googled it. I have my regular Windows C:, Recovery D:, and a third drive with a really long name:
//?Volume{a94c2570-c117-4230-8eb6-78a45a77ab7f}/
What could that even be? I was thinking maybe the computer somehow thinks one of my external HHDs is plugged in, but under "media type" this drive reads as a SSD same as my pc (and none of my external hard drives are SSD). The drive does not show up in My PC, deframenter says it needs optimization, and when I tried to defragment for kicks nothing happens.

1 AntwortOther - Computersvor 5 Jahrenhow can i find out what's slowing down my pc?
brand new hp envy. at first I thought it just wasn't able to handle Chrome (not what I'd expect from an i7 with ssd...) but the same thing happens on firefox (entire computer slows down when browsing, particularly when streaming video). Task manager says memory is always at around 50 percent even when all web browsers are closed (however cpu usage jumps up to 50 percent when streaming), there doesn't seem to be any one program bogging down the memory. Ran ccleaner, malwarebytes, superantispyware, and windows defender with no solution.....I'm at a loss.

I just opened mine and it says this:
"DO NOT STORE THIS PRODUCT ON FINISHED WOOD SURFACES. Plastic, vinyl, and rubber products stored directly on finished wood floors and furniture surfaces may cause permanent damage to the paint or varnish finish"
This seems like a very general statement, but not all plastics strip varnish do they? Are there exercise balls that don't strip varnish? (I live in a small apartment with wood floors...)
6 AntwortenOther - Home & Gardenvor 5 Jahrenhow long does it take to lose water weight?
I've been craving salt pretty badly for a couple of months now, but within the last week or so my weight just skyrocketed and I'm pretty sure it's because I've been eating a lot of salt with water (as in I'll sit down with air popped popcorn and just dump salt all over it and eat it with 1-2L or water). I wasn't really concerned with water weight before but now I'm thinking it's making me really bloated, how long can water weight take to lose? Bonus points if you can tell me what my kidneys are waiting for in terms of flushing out the water!

ugh so the last couple of days I've found 3 little worms (two crawling on my shoulder on the couch and one on the table---ugh!) and I thought they were maggots but I just found little cocoons in my (closed but not zipped) Nook case!!!! What the hell are these things and how do I get rid of them?? We've found an assortment of colors, the first one was white, the next was green, and the last was brown (maggot sized though thinner). The cocoon clearly has similar larvae in them.

3 AntwortenDogsvor 6 Jahrenwhat core/oblique exercises can i do with slip-rib?
It's been a year since my slip rib started, my doctor had me on a high dose ibuprofen regime for 6 months but it didnt help.
Background to slip rib: One of my lower ribs is slipping under another rib, so there's a pop sometimes when I make twisting motions---there's no pain unless I repetitively do whatever is making it pop (which isn't always the same thing...but some examples where my rib usually pops is during bicycle-crunches, and even just bending sideways to reach into my bag on the floor).
I really want to get into whitewater kayaking which involves strengthening my core...particularly obliques, but I'm not sure how to do it and avoid popping sensations
