I've recently been looking into buying a desktop computer, and I've finally found one that looks good, and is within a decent price range, but I'm worried it might not be enough to run heavily modded games (Such as Skyrim, Oblivion, Fallout series, etc.) Also, I'm probably not going to be customizing the tower, for I have no experience with doing so. Here are the specs:

Processor: Intel Core i7-4770 Processor

Chipset: Intel H87

Memory: 16GB DDR3-1600 DIMM Memory, Dual Channel

Graphics Module: NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 Graphics w/ 3GB GDDR3 VRAM Video Memory

Hard Drive: 2TB 7200RPM 3.5" SATA3 Hard Drive

I currently run on a fairly decent Acer laptop, but my CPU gets maxed out too easily, and I can't run more graphically intense ENB modifications for Skyrim, or more visually intensive games like the Crysis series.

I apologize if this question has already been answered, but all questions I have read are missing details similar to my problem, and have not helped solve my problem.

So I have recently bought a new Razer Carcharias headset, and it worked perfectly for me, except whenever I go on Skype and try selecting a microphone all I get is "Line in (Razer Surround Audio Controller)" (And my default Realtek microphone), but the Razer microphone is grayed out, so I am unable to select it as my microphone.

Here are some details about my equipment::

I have a Windows 8 Acer laptop,

I only have one audio input slot, but my headset requires two, so I use a small splitter so that I can plug two audio devices into it (A microphone, and a headset/stereo).

Also, my headset has a USB cable that needs to be connected.
