Victoria river mysteriously turns bright green

VICTORIA — Horrified nature-lovers at Goldstream Provincial Park watched as the Goldstream River turned bright green late Wednesday afternoon.

The fluorescent green colouring appeared to start about 500 metres on the Victoria side of the entrance to the park and, over the course of an hour, the substance flowed down into the environmentally sensitive estuary.

By 5:30 p.m. the river, known for its dramatic salmon runs, eagles and other wildlife, was back to its normal colour.

Ministry of Environment teams were immediately sent to the area to investigate and members of Langford Fire Department collected samples for analysis.

No dead fish or animals had been found by early evening.

Earlier in the day a fountain beside Veterans Memorial Parkway in Langford also turned bright green, said Langford Fire Chief Bob Beckett.

someone or some group could have dumped dead birds from a plane or dumped dead fish intentionally? Maybe to scare us or to divert our attention away from something else?

i just saw 9 in an hour and 3 were big, bright long ones. the milky way galaxy looks beautiful

i was out for 1/2 hr starting at 1130 tues night and saw one little one at the upper top star of casseiopea traveling left (west). am going back out in a few minutes. anybody see any yet? thanks! ps, i read that the same shooting star could be seen by people in NY and in FLA at the same time (or that distance length anywhere i would imagine). every few days or so i get an email from obama about his plans/progress, whatever. i never open them and i always click that its spam. when i mark other email as spam it stops. why do i keep getting this unwanted email and how does he get away w/that? i never asked for it and it is an intrusion. how do i make it stop without opening it? is anybody else getting this junk? ty
