I am fairly new to the teaching business and would like to hear about your experience:

I currently teach 11th grade and the students there simply ignore that I expect them to do homework...what measures work for you and your high school students who are about to graduate? (17-19 years here in Germany)?

As a new english teacher I am just wondering if it is antiquated to tell me students to use long forms in academic essays or if it is a good way to teach them what it means to use formal language.

Hey dear experienced teachers,

today my 6th grade students wrote a test (which I set up by using the teacher's book). One of the students obviously had access to the book (I think one of her parents is a teacher as well) and has all the right answers when she is usually a low performer in my class. (I also know because she learned by heart and because I changed some questions she couldnt succeed with what she had learned)

It is unfair to her schoolmates but how do you handle things like that?

Talk to the parents?

Is is really forbidden to use these books as a student?
