Been gone three years, back in the baseball section to see if anything has changed.

  • Who is more valuable to his team, Chris Davis or Miguel Cabrera?

Would the Orioles or Tigers take the biggest hit if they lost their star player?

What MLB team has won the most games in Dodger Stadium, Chavez Ravine during the regular baseball season? You don't have to tell me how many just name the team.

  • Your overall opinion of Ichiro Suzuki?

Ichiro played 9 years in the highly competitive Japanese League and is in year 13 of MLB. He had 1,278 hits in Japan and now has 2,702 hits in MLB and is just 20 hits away from 4, 000 hits at age 39. His average year in MLB is .320 batting average, 100 runs scored, 218 hits, 38 SB's. At 5'9" and 165lbs he has been a top defensive outfielder with one of the most accurate and strongest throwing arms in the game. He runs out every groundball at full speed, is a leader in the clubhouse, and has been ejected from a game a total of 1 time in 22 years. With all of this going on we really don't hear too much about Ichiro. Since he is about to reach 4,000 hits I would really like to hear your opinion as to what you think about him and his contribution to MLB.

  • Why does pitching dominate the All-Star game?

During the past 30 years the winner of the All-Star game has scored 5 or fewer runs 17 times and the losing team has scored 3 or fewer runs 21 times. Why do All-Star hitters seem to have so much trouble scoring runs against All-Star pitchers?

  • Can we all agree that the Dodgers and Angels are playoff contenders?

The Dodgers are 15-3 in the last 18 games and the Angels are 11-3 in the last 14 games. The Dodgers have reached .500 and the Angels are 2 games under and both are closing the gap in their divisions. There is no question that both teams have considerable talent and both are now on a roll. So many on this site wrote them off shortly after the start of the season and is it now time to concede that cream always rises to the top?

  • Have you Cubs Fans fallen off the Starlin Castro Bandwagon?

Should the Cubs try to move Castro before the Trade Deadline? If the answer is yes who should they go after that will improve the team long term. And, make it a trade that will work for both teams, don't say Castro for Trout.

  • Is it Possible to have a Quadruple play in MLB?

  • What Happens to A-Rod after the 2017 Season?

A-Rod is sitting on 647 career homeruns at this point and his contract with the Yankees is over after the 2017 season. Let's say that A-Rod is able to fight through his injuries, puts the drug issues behind him, and is able to hit another 100 homeruns by the end of 2017. That would put him at 747 career homeruns and just 15 behind the Barry Bonds number of 762. At this point A-Rod has no contract and has a shot to be the all time homerun leader. Should the Yankees, or any other team, sign him and give him a chance to pass Bonds?

  • Back-To-Back Triple Crowns for Miguel Cabrera?

There have been 17 Triple Crown winners in the history of MLB and only Ted Williams and Rogers Hornsby have accomplished it twice, but not in back-to-back years. Miguel Cabrera did it last year and is currently at .384-12-49 in the Triple Crown categories this year. I am not saying he will but if he does it again this year he will be the only player in MLB history to accomplish this in consecutive seasons. If he is able to pull this off where would you rank this accomplishment in the history of greatest accomplishments ever in MLB?

  • California Teams from Best to Worst?

Rank the five California teams (Padres, Giants, Dodgers, Athletics, Angels) from 1 to 5 as to who will have the best Won/Lost record at year end. Reflect what you believe the Won/Lost numbers will be and the total must be 162 for each team. If you can tell me why you believe you will be accurate at year end I will be able to award a Best Answer. If all you give me are numbers it won't impress me.

  • Is it possible to compare players from different generations and come to any reasonable conclusion?

To a great extent baseball is a game of numbers. Numbers get players into the HOF and many of us look at these numbers and believe we can accurately rank players against one another going back to the beginning of the game in the late 1800's. Is this true or is it complete nonsense to think that we can go back in time and compare players of the past to players today?

  • Why does every NBA team have a better record at home and not on the road?

You can look at all other professional sports teams and none of them have as big a disparity of what they are able to accomplish at home versus road games. Good teams can win on the road and bad teams can lose at home but year-after-year all teams do better at home. What is it about NBA basketball that makes home court advantage so important as compared to other sports?

  • Are we seeing a level of parity in MLB?

Last year the division winner Yankees, Tigers, Rangers, Phillies, Brewers, and Diamondbacks were a combined 188 games over a .500 winning percentage. This year these same teams are a combined 6 games under a .500 winning percentage and only one, the Rangers, are even leading their division. Why is it that money doesn't seem to be able buy winners any longer?

  • Do you have a baseball story or interesting information about a player of the game?

A Texas Native, Tris Speaker was born right-handed but learned to throw and bat left-handed after breaking his right arm twice while being thrown from broncos. Denton True Young, nickname the Cyclone, is considered by many to be the greatest pitcher of all time with his 511 career wins but he also holds the record for career games lost at 316 and neither record will ever be broken. Joe Tinker is the Tinker of "Baseball's Sad Lexicon" more popularly known as "Tinker to Evers to Chance. Very few fans today know that Joe Tinker and Johnny Evers did not speak to each other for decades beginning with an on-field fight over a cab fare in 1905. The great game of baseball is full of stories about the players of the game and I would be interested in hearing one from you.

  • Is this going to be the year of the underdog?

At this point in time the Padres, Braves, Rangers, and White Sox are leading their divisions and the Reds are just a game behind the Cardinals. On the other hand the Phillies, Red Sox, Mets, Angels, and Dodgers are on the outside looking in. In your opinion which underdogs have the best chance to make the playoffs and which of the perennial powerhouse teams might not make it. This question is purely subjective and the best answer will go to the person with the best reasoning to support your case.

  • Could the McGwire admission to steroid use bolster the Hall Of Fame chances for Roger Maris?

Longtime USA today baseball writer Mel Antonen said he thinks Mark McGwire's admission to steroid use may help get Roger Maris into the Hall of Fame. Maris held the single season home run record for 37 years until McGwire broke the record as did Bonds and Sosa after that. Since all three of these players are linked to drug use this brings Maris back into the picture. Antonen believes that Maris was an honest player and deserves to be remembered for what he did. Do you agree with Antonen or do you believe his career numbers were just not enough to get him there and the McGwire, Sosa, and Bonds issues have no relevance for HOF consideration?
