It can be hard sometimes, but I've decided to just stop answering certain users- even if I have a good answer that should be useful. some people are just obscenely ignorant- and happy being so.
if every business was run according to the owners religious beliefs, wouldnt that be a form of segregation?
I'm not equating it to the past, just the meaning. Christians serving christians, jews serving jews muslins serving muslims... is that where we're heading with this?
20 AntwortenPoliticsvor 7 Jahrenwhy do many christians in the US believe muslims are being favored?
When a child that behavea doesn't get scolded.
a child that misbehaves, breaks the rules, does.
the only reason people haven't complained about muslims not selling to gays is be cause the DO sell to gays. even though they don't agree with the lifestyle. what's there to scold them about? L
2 AntwortenPoliticsvor 7 Jahrendo you think many people realize that this arizona bill not only make arizona look bad?
It makes christianity look bad as well?
11 AntwortenPoliticsvor 7 JahrenI live in a pretty wealthy town that generally wants "obamacare"?
Im talking about homes by the lake being 5mil+ and further away being over 250k.
-If that helps.
Are our residents just more people friendly?
Or is it that they wont miss the extra money being payed into taxes?
11 AntwortenPoliticsvor 7 Jahrenif christian-owned companies have to offer insurance that covers contraception...?
It doesn't mean they have to make the employees get the pills.
Or is it that they know they can't fire their employees based on religion (without the risk of being sued) and if an employee actually used the insurance to get birth control pills THAT would be offensive to the owner?
4 AntwortenPoliticsvor 7 Jahrenwill there ever be a time when a "minority" is elected president and people DON'T claim it's due to race?
i'm curious. every day I see people claim it's a racial thing. is it a racial thing ONLY because the race isn't "white/caucasian"? will it always be a racial thing when the candidates are of different races/heritages?
10 AntwortenElectionsvor 9 Jahrenthis one's for democrats and republicans?
that wasn't the question, and i'll try to keep this short (warning: I failed....miserably). also, this applies to any affiliations lumped with these parties (political left and right)
voter ID is argued about a lot on here. personally, I can understand the arguments from both sides, and they both make PERFECT sense. I know not everyone wants to admit that they can see what someone with an opposing view is trying to get at, but I suspect a great deal of users actually understand.
this question is more of a matter of opinion and not a yes/no. in fact, I may even delete it once I see how others are feeling about matter. (feel free to report it if you feel it to be ranting and such. I won't be offended)
***the question:
can't we all get over the voter ID issue and focus on voter suppression? at least stop *trying* to argue over it? as I said, both sides are making perfect sense (when you take out the insults and insinuations)
...that was kind of a yes or no, huh? well, I do hope for further comment in the answer-even if it's just to call me names :P they just get tossed aside, but maybe it makes you feel better? (there is one thing I can be called that will make me "huffy"- only been said to me once, but people are still hearing about it. basically, insult away- but don't pretend I'm all hurt about it.
with all the news stories about registered voters being purged, only to be proven completely eligible, I'd say the ID thing is a bit trivial. not unimportant at all, just nothing compared to purging and related events (cutting down early voting and other minor, but suppressive actions). these things are not accidental and generally serve no other purpose than to reduce votes. *in actuality purging could be effective in stopping ineligible voters, only if they'd learn how to do it right without seeming to simply be deleting those who would vote against they're party- keep in mind many of these people are 100% undeniably US citizens- born and raised here, some even served in the military. these people have more of a right to vote than ANYONE- and it's simply being deleted!
I think both, and all, parties can agree that this just isn't right.
---keep in mind this is simply about ELIGIBLE voters having that right canceled, or suspended. this has nothing at all to do with minority/age/income- arguments associated with the ID issue. I'm sorry, but if any of you go there, I will stop reading. fair is fair.
my suggestion is that reps stop asking why dems have a problem with voter IDs, and for dems to stop answering. if neither is willing to listen, there is absolutely no point in it, and as I have said in past answers, the ID thing is only part of the bigger picture.
I feel I should apologize again for the long post- this is after I cut it down quite a bit. to those who read it, I appreciate your time, even if you didn't appreciate my question. (and i do expect some flack from all sides, for content and length, but oh well) I really wanted people to think about this. if you read it, thought about, and still don't agree with what was said- then at least you got as far as thought and formed your opinion based on that- and I think that is very important.
